Thanks! Anytime he hears something nice anyone says about anything he has made he just smiles real big and is genuinely surprised. Making stuff with wood is his passion and I think he is so tickled he can make anything that anyone else thinks is nice.And that particular piece is, I hope, making lots of rainbows for my sister! I will ask her. We did hold it up to the window and it definitely produced rainbows. I'm thinking not as many as the crystal with no wood around it, maybe almost half as much? It is hard to acurately remember. I don't have anything like that of my own, so I'm really not sure. But I do have a bunch of different crystals so I could give feedback as to what makes the most rainbows.
I was thinking if anyone is really concerned with it, you can control so many of the variables by making it yourself. Like making a template out of cardboard and hang that with the crystal in it to determine wood thickness and hole size, etc.
