What do you ladies think do you think you could sacrifice body hair for the sake of your little ones embarassment level?
How old is Evan? Is he old enough to notice your body hair, other women's lack of body hair, and be embarrassed about it?

I could see wearing different clothes, to cover my body hair, to please others for a specific event. But I can't see actually shaving off hair just to please somebody else, especially not a child (who can be taught about natural body hair and standing up for oneself, as distinct from an adult partnership where there's give and take in both directions.)

Partially hairy mama here! I shave my legs (well, knees down) because I really enjoy the smoothness but keep everything else trimmed but still hairy. I just despise the feeling of shaved armpits! Gross.

DP doesn't mind at all. He grew up in a town in Western Mass where, seriously, lots of the local girls go hairy. Or at least the girls in his circle. His sister has just started shaving (why, I don't know) but never did when I first met her. My mother started shaving when she started working again but I have lots of childhood memories of her being hairy as well. And my friends are used to me being a hippie oddball so all's well there

It's nice to meet all of you!

How nice to see us Hairy Mamas being all social over here! Welcome!!

So I marketed hairy, and hooped, and pretty much said, screw you, I do what I want. This is kind of funny, actually, b/c when I found out I had to actually name myself, I had a really hard time coming up with the perfect one. So I came up with Screw Off and Dye...well, except I didn't say screw. I thought it was fitting.

Sales were a bit slower the other day, but some old hippie organic farmer dude came up to me and said, you aren't from around here, are you? : He made a custom request. Well, I thought it was pretty funny.

cdm2b~ Sorry, and :.

changedangel~ That just flat out sucks!!! Sorry!!

Cdm2b~ THAT is a personal decision. I have a friend who started shaving when her daughters got a bit older (and were shaving themselves) and when she reentered to work place. I certainly have debated it being a new comer to these parts. I tried shaving for like 9 or 10 months and couldn't take it. The other day my 13 year old was asking when boys start shaving, I told him to ask him brother with a chuckle b/c a razor dropped out of his bag from camp...the boy does not need to shave yet, so it was funny...anyway, we got into a discussion about female shaving and said, well you shave your legs. To which of course I had to reply, Um, no I don't, and then the 17 y/o said You are so stupid (to the 13 y/o). The whole thing was a crack up.

p.s. I am all about embarrassing my children. It's my favorite pastime.

Oh, and pps...I didn't stick with that name, just in case you were wondering.

and so, last night i go bring dh his supper at work and stay for coffee. (he works at tim hortons Well, from the time we started dating he has been writing lil love notes on my coffee lids.

So this time I see him writing and I'm thinking- he keeps writing the same five or six things. it's getting tiresome.

And he hands me my coffee.

And I laugh.

"I love my hairy wife" it says.

And then I come here and see Ruthla and majikfaeries dddc's (and *get* them) and laugh harder.

DH's nickname for me (because of my height- not the hairiness) has always been, "Hobbit-Wife" (Actually before we got married I was the hobbit-fife, but yeah.)

Basically the point of this post was to say thank you to all of you for understanding my frustration and reminding me that I need to understand dh's stance on things.

And maybe to remind everyone (myself especially) that it's the little things that matter. Like coffee-notes, nicknames and finding the best way to explain yourself to the one person that matters.

I am sooo slow. I've read those 2 dozen times and didn't get it.

Eh, dh says I am not hairy enough to pass for a hobbit. Too bad because I was hoping to change my name to Bracegirdle.

any furry hairies?

Hi Hairy Mommas! I haven't been checking in much lately. I guess I'm so used to being hairy I hardly think of it! But I am enjoying wearing shorts and tank tops. I think my hair is really sexy.
Anyway, I went to my first Furry Convention (Anthrocon) last weekend. I loved it! I think I finally found where I belong. I always knew I was a weirdo, and I've tried out various things like gay square dancing and renfests and trekkie conventions. I've loved them all, and loved all the weirdos I met there, but I never really felt like "yeah, this is for me!" But with the furries, I felt like, "Yeah, these are MY KIND of weirdos!" I like the furry persona, partly because I like being furry in real life. So I was wondering if any of the other Hairy Mommas are also Furry Mommas!

Needing the wisdom of the hairy compendium!
My armpits are angry with me. Since the beginning of the really hot weather, and my wearing tank tops every day instead of t-shirts. The skin under my hair has turned dark red (I am a fair caucasian) and angry looking. It doesn't hurt or itch, but it occasionally peels like after you sunburn. I use a deoderant that has enzymes - could it be yeast? If so, what do I do? HALP!

...it could be yeast...try coating them w/ plain yogurt...
I've never had something like this happen.

i got a yeast infection under my arm as a teenager. it was horribly itchy and smelled, well, yeasty. it was really awful! if you think it's yeast, try treating with an antifungal cream and seeing if that helps. any over the counter cream should work. the yogurt idea is good too. keep it as dry as possible also. yeast loves warm and damp. GL!

It's been a long time since I've been here to say hello, but hello!

This summer's been pretty calm. I hardly even think of my hair any more (though STILL love when a breeze blows my leg hairs....I don't know that I'll ever tire of that long-deprived sensation that I missed between the ages 13 and 23) and there's been no hair-related drama to report.

Hi! Im new to posting on MDC. Im hairy and love it. Been au' natural on and off my whole bodyhair producing life and now since 2001.

DH loves it too. Funny thing is when we met i was wearing a short sleeve shirt. The next time we got together i was nervous he'd get turned off (and i felt this thing for him!) So i wore short sleeves and a long skirt again.
Turns out he saw and loved the hair from day one. :

I used to feel a tad uneasy at pools and such around people. Now i dont care at all. If someone wont get to know me because of my pits then i wouldnt want to get to know them anyway. Saves me the trouble.

I have a few hairy girl friends IRL and i LOVE them. I love when i see another hairy mama; i feel am immediate connection to her and want an excuse to raise my arm over my head and say "Hey mama!"

Evan is six years old and yes he has seen other women that have been shaved. I have just given up and did shave but havent since then so I am back to hairy. Oh well he will get over it hehehe. Thanks everyone for all of your support and I figure this is a learning experience that women are beatiful no matter if they shave or not.
