the old adage was true: keyboards don't make great teething toys.

About six inches under. (hey, hamster graves don't need to be very deep! )

Silky Bigballs, however, is doing just fine.

Wow! ♥ Where is everone?
Silky Bigballs. I ♥ his name...it's so honest.

So, after ds2, I've been noticing that my legs are hairier than before...has this happened to anyone else?

I didn't stop shaving until after DS was born, so I can't compare. My legs, however, ARE hairier than DD2's legs.

My last trimester and the first year were super hairy after my DS. He's 2 now and my girly hormones have reasserted themselves . My body hair is pretty much back to it's old self.

during pregnancy all my hair falls out practically...except for head hair...my dh looked at my pits the other day (i'm preggo now) and was like "Oh my god...why did you shave???!?!"

Obviously I didn't. And there is still hair there. It's like all the dark, courser hair falls out.

Same with legs.

Then after pregnancy...wham...it's all back. I can't tell if there is more of it, or if I'm just used to looking at more nudey legs/pits than usually.

Well I've been lurking for a little while... and all this while letting all of my hair grow out. I've gotta say it is very liberating!

With the other 2 threads going on about how much women remove I've realized that I'm always self concious about my body hair. I've always been a more natural girl. I shower once or twice a week, hardly ever wash my hair, etc... but I've always felt like I'm supposed to shave my legs, pits and have a perfectly manicured bikini area (which I hardly ever do) every day.

It got me thinking that I don't need to mess with any of it ever... So I stopped. And so far it feels good

yes, I did lose much of my leg hair (all of it on each the outer sides) during pregnancy. I'm now going through the 4-6 mo. postpardon shed of my head hair...I just chopped my hair b/c of its quality (rather, lack thereof). I do wonder whether this resurgence in the leg dept will weaken. I do hope so. I am WAY hairier than my man.

i'm still around too. didn't really notice any difference in my hair falling out or growing back in relation to pg/ birth

That's awesome, carrotstick! I stopped shaving several years ago, and I'd *never* go back! It's so liberating not to have to shave for other people (which was what I was doing - I hated shaving). Welcome to the tribe!

someone took this pic of me the other day - it's pretty silly, but shows of my hairy armpits nicely

speaking of pit hair... ds, who is 14mns, has taken to pulling on and picking at mine whenever he gets a chance, especially when nursing. I wear tanks a lot around the house, and he's just been fascinated by it. On one hand it's funny, but it's also about to drive.me.NUTS!

Yeah, my son is totally into the pit hair. He used to put his hand in my pit the whole time he was nursing. He quit nursing about a year ago and he STILL likes to stick his hand in my armpit. And then sniff his fingers. And then make me sniff his fingers.
Partly it is his armpit obsession, but partly he just likes to smell things. He'll take every spice out of the cabinet one by one, take the lid off and smell it then put it back. Same with soap or anything else that smells.
I told him I can't wait until he gets armpit hair!

I'm curious, if you wouldn't mind humoring me....

Why don't you shave? Is there a health benefit? I've just always done it, because it was the thing to do.

combination of factors... I'm lazy. I don't have much body hair to begin with. I'm a big believer in natural beauty, loving my body the way it is- hair and all. My hubby likes it. I'm not buying razors and shaving cream and creating more waste or spending money. My mother doesn't shave, so it was the norm in the house I grew up in.

Because I don't see any benefit to doing it.

Because I have 5 children to take care of and it isn't a high priority either time or money wise.

Because my husband doesn't care.

Because I am tired of submitting to the status quo.

Because I have 4 daughters and I don't want them to grow up believing that there is something wrong or icky with body hair.

The simple answer is: Why should I shave?

More complex answers:

It's healthier. I'm not using conventional shaving cream with potentially dangerous chemicals. I'm not nicking myself on a regular basis, which can lead to small skin infections, as well as being places chemicals can more easily enter my bloodstream.

It's cheaper. I'm not spending money on shaving cream, razors, depilatories, or other hair removal methods. The "all natural" (containing fewer chemicals than the conventional products) cost even more money.

It's better for the environment. I'm not contributing to empty shaving cream containers, disposable razors, or worn-out electric razors filling up landfills. I'm not using any electricity because I'm not using an electric razor.

I'm also teaching my children and their friends that womanly body hair does not HAVE TO BE removed- so the next generation can benefit from the health, economic, and environmental benefits.
