Tribe for Hairy Mamas in 2009 - Page 3

my chest hair is relegated to a few strands around my nips and some around my belly button.

i H-A-T-E that hair. but I got used to it while I was pregnant cause it just got longer and darker. G yells at me when i pull one out, which I do almost subconsciously. I haven't shaved it since I was in college. Basically when I met G. He kept saying, if you keep plucking them out they'll grow back, with more. I don't know if I believed him, but him saying that made me feel more secure. And since now he is my husband I figure if he can live with them, i can live with them.

the baby doesn't seem to mind them either.

My chest hairs are very similar to the hairs on my arms, although my arm hair is a bit darker. So nothing "pluckworthy" below my neck. (except my toes. For some strange reason, my big toe hairs annoy me.)
I too cant stand the ones that grow on my chin. But the ones on my chest I dont care the only one that sees those are my hubby. Pit hair still growing strong. Leg hair not so much I have a wierd rash going on around my ankle and hope it is not bad news. It looks pretty bad but it also could be my eczema too. Which is kind of what it looks like. My legs get soooo dry right know. The warmer I get the worse it gets too my son is the same way. He gets it behind his knees and in all the warm areas of his body. I have to put so much stuff on him he looks like a greased pig. Anyway It takes me longer to shave them though I will go two months and then shave.

oooooh I hate my toe hairs. I do yoga and went to a studio and I believe out of my pit hair and my toe hairs it was my toe hairs that to me was more embarassing wierd I know but it was.

okay, all this talk about toe hairs, so i inspected my toes very closely... I have 5 toe hairs!
2 on my left 'index' toe, 2 on my right big toe and one little one on my right index toe.
they were really hard to see, but sweet

oh, and sorry you get skin problems when you're hot cdmo2b. does the hot ddddc make it worse?

I wanted to thank you for that by the way. Yeah the skin problems are bad but I atleast dont break out as bad as my son poor thing He will break out and get such dry skin and then they will crack and no matter how much we try to take care of it, it will get infected because peroxide and alcohol will make it worse. I am going to try honey on it if it gets bad again. IT hasnt been that bad in awhile so maybe he will grow out of it. I loooove just letting the hair grow though and maybe if it is just eczema then I will be fine to just let it grow if I put lots of oil on heheheh. Thanks again MF you are hot yourself.:

I may be joining this tribe soon...at least for the rest of my pregnancy. I don't care to shave my legs or bikini line (DH doesn't really care and he's not here anyway so who am I trying to impress?) I usually shave under my arms but the last 2 times I've done so I've gotten a rash around the area with hair (does that make sense?) It looks like chafing but I'm not sure.

so yeah...

I feel silly asking this...and I don't want to offend anyone...but how do you keep from feeling gross? I used to be VERY particular about having ANY body hair (I waxed my arms all through junior high because it bothered me so much) and some of that feeling is still there. I can only go so long before I start to feel icky.

perhaps someone else should answer that; I never had a problem with it, but I'm seriously into loving my body exactly as it is

I've had body image issues for as long as I can remember...so that's a very new concept for me.

thank you for that, I needed a comment along those lines today!

What about the whole "society" angle? Do you avoid things that show your hairy parts?

not at all. most of my tops are sleeveless. I generally wear either trousers or long skirts, but that's just my style and nothing to do with hiding my hairy legs. I do on occasion wear short dresses, and I'm proud of my hairy legs. I wear a regular bikini at the beach/ pool, and I'm not ashamed a a couple "public" hairs spoking out.
I love my body as it is

Sometime I feel odd when I am in the locker room changing for gym. My armpit hair is hard to miss so I think it draws peoples attention to notice 'other' hair. I just try not to care what other people think. Its nobody elses business in my opinion.

Stubble bothers me a heck of a lot more than fully grown hair. Stubble, to me anyway, feels like "I forgot to shave." When my hairs get long and obvious, it just feels like "This is the way my body is supposed to look now that I'm past puberty." It doesn't feel gross or icky at all.

Maybe start by waxing the areas you want to grow out, so it grows in soft and smooth rather than stubbly?
i don't think i've ever felt...gross...in the beginning i guess i felt different from everyone else and hence a little self conscious. i chose my clothing carefully based on the event i was going to.

Now, however...WHO CARES. Even if I'm in the room with perfect strangers, or with my husband's work friends. I've noticed that it's the people who ask you about it who eventually become more accepting. THe people who just look and make a yucky face are the people who are actually antagonistic about it.

I also don't shave the pubes and wear a two-piece. people need to learn to just get over it if the are going to be derisive that's their mental well-being they're sacrificing...don't let it hinder you.

You get used to it. Really. And then you realize that you aren't the one being gross. You are being normal, and so many other people are crazed and very bizarre for obsessing over their body and hair and yours...

You might even start to love your body a little bit (or alot!) more because you just let it be what it is. And it's beautiful!

Fuzzy Wuzzy Was A ..... Woman?

I've gone hairy!! Well, sort of. I shave my legs, but thats just because I dont like how the hair feels when I wear pants. haha. But I dont shave my pitties. I haven't shaved them since...I think... before new years, but I can't remember. It really doesnt bother me to have hair under my arms at all. My mother thinks its gross....I mean c'mon. Whats gross about hair under your arms? She has no better answer that " It just is " So.... I think its kinda funny. My husband says he doesn't mind, but he kind of had a "thing" for my shaven armpits....you know what I mean? hehe. So he's a pretty well supporter (Except he did keep asking questions like ... " How long are you gonna let the hair grow?" and ... Are you going to wear tank-tops?" But oh well. And I do think about what the rest of my family will think when they find out, but to heck with their thoughts on women and hair... I mean its there for a reason right? I just wanted to share that little bit with you all.

Fuzzy and loving it!!
