I'm thinking long term what I would like to do with my living room. I can't afford new furniture but there are things you can do to make it look better
My dad got me the new slipcover I wanted for the sofa for xmas so now its got me thinking. I have an ugly L shaped computer desk and a cheap 5 shelf bookcase from target in the living room. I was thinking what I would replace them with if I could and an idea hit me. My dad makes these huge 6' tall cabinet speakers for people and to save on costs he uses some kind of faux leather fabric that looks real. I don't know the cost but looking online it seems to run around $8 a yard and would take about 3-4 yards per item. My dad would probably be more then happy to just give me some then I would just need to pick up upholstery tacks or decorative nails which wouldn't cost much of anything or I might be able to trade for them.
Am I dreaming or do you think I could actually make this work? I don't mean make a slipcover but to actually totally cover the furniture with the leather. Looking online I found a few pieces that were leather bound but they were very old antiques and I couldn't see the details very well but it seems doable.
Well, lunch is over, back to my major decluttering project today!
