diaper covers

not sure if this is the right place to post this or if i'm at all coherent, but here goes.

i was "converted" to wool covers when my son was 6 months old. i'm due in may with my second and want to start with wool covers right away and avoid the wacky rash my son got with the PUL covers we had.

i've crocheted the tickle turdle wrap with alterations for my chunky Mr. Pants and it was ok. i've knitted several based on the free fern and faerie soaker pattern. (can you tell i'm not the best at following directions exactly? ) i'm not opposed to buying a pattern to knit if there's one out there that's amazing but don't want to waste my money on something unincredible.

are there any covers that are amazing for the newborn stage? anything i should avoid? wraps or pull on soakers? cuffs for the legs or not? i want to get some made up now before Snort arrives and i have a baby and toddler and no sleep or time to do anything but the necessities.

My favorite is the Sheepy Pants pattern. It's only $6, and it's the only pattern I've used since I bought it (and I have Perfection Pants, Aubrey Doodle pants, and at least another half dozen free patterns.)

I've knit the Warm Heart Woolies trim soaker pattern - maybe it's $5? - for a friend's nb and she loved it.

I knit a Curly Purly (free) for another friend and she loved it.

Sheepy Pants is a longies pattern and I'm working it again for the 2nd time (my baby is due in April) with a Curly Purly waist band. I knit a pair of Picky Pants earlier this week, but can't truly compare since I knit the Sheepy Pants in a nb size and the PP in a small. I do think I'll prefer the narrower leg of the Sheepy Pants for the nb stage, though. I'd love to knit some Wonder Pants, but, I think the wide leg will just swallow a nb chicken leg (no to mention be too drafty)!

I'll be knitting both the Curly Purly and WHW soakers for this baby as well.

Another vote for Sheepy Pants.

I love the Sheepy Pants pattern too. It was the first pair of longies I knit, and I love that she doesn't assume you are a great knitter. There is lots of explanation. Plus the longies are cute.

My absolute favorite newborn soakers for my son were the Sheepy Sacks. They made diaper changes so easy, and solved the nighttime blanket dilemma.

I also love this pattern:

I like just about everything. The only thing that didn't go over well in our house was the LTK wrap - dh and I both hated the buttons/button holes.
