WoW Tribe 2009!!! - Page 3

Is anyone starting any new draenei on Runetotem? I was thinking I'd like to create a Draenei priest, but I would very much like to play and level with someone else.

I don't know how much I will be around.

My brother shot himself over the weekend. I tried getting on for a little while last night, hoping maybe it would help my mind take a break from racing 500 directions at once. Didn't work.
I'm so very sorry

ps I don't see ads here but thanks for reporting it since gold buying is against TOS and will get your account banned if you are caught.

Woo, hit 80 last night with my husband

Aewynne is now an 80 for the list.

Next up will be my mage. Then probably our DKs (a couple of gnomes!) I have to say though, I can't wait for kids to be back in school. The queue is killing me, I sign off to take care of baby, then sign on, wait 15 min in queue, play for 5 min and baby needs me again! Frustrating.

I've seen gold spammers etc and have always wondered how in the heck it works.

Anyone know?

Seems rather silly to me to spend real money for fake money.....

Gold sellers typically are typically chinese gold farmers. A lot of accounts are from China that put their accounts on automated (against the TOS) and just farm farm farm. Then they sell the gold online. Yep, people pay real money for fake money. Another way gold sellers get money is from hacked accounts. They hack an account strip down the toons, mail all the gold to another account, etc. Then that gold gets sold.

My husband secretly did this behind my back, three times! :

After we'd talked about how stupid it is. Like 6 months after, but still.... I had said how when I was a kid I wanted to convert my play monopoly money into real money. And how I can't believe people would trade in their real money for play money... so stupid. Especially considering our poverty status.

I guess on three ocassions he paid real money with our check/debit card, I think a total of $50-$60 and he gained around 4000 wow gold total and after a couple days was already down to a mere 900 wow gold. In game, as in life, he cannot manage money.

Hi I'm new! I played WoW when it first came out but took a 2-3 year break while I finished my BA in English. Now I'm back! Here is my character details:

Sibylla 26 Priest (H)- Dragonmaw

I'm enjoying playing with my husband and a few friends online. It is fun to be back into the game, but it is so different from when it first came out! I've had a lot to get used to.

Blizzard has said that their investigations show that the vast majority of hacked accounts are due to people using power leveling services, which is also against TOS. Then they don't change their password and the service comes in later and hacks the account and steals their gold.

Ahh yes, that too. I know Blizzard has said that buying gold can put your account at risk for hacking, but I don't see how. You don't give your password or download anything for that. Still, it's definitely against the TOS and you can get banned for it.

Not worth it. Though I admit I can see the appeal a little. Especially if you're an impatient person and at a low level. I had a VERY hard time making money for a long time. It drove me batty. But I wouldn't want to risk my account for temporary gratification.

I had a friend when i played UO she had 14 accounts and bought houses on all of them with REAL money and regularly bought in game currency and items. It makes NO sense to me! DH knows I'd kill him in a very slow and painful manner if he ever thought about it

Because typically people buy gold from a *website* using a credit card/paypal/whatever. The website contains a keylogger or other spying program that sends the account names/passwords back to the gold farmer. Let's face it, if someone is stupid enough to pay REAL money for fake money, are they really going to be smart enough to keep antivirus and antispyware up to date? Probably not.

I have to say anyone who can't figure out how to get gold in Wow only needs to read a little bit on wowhead, and get familiar with the auction house. I spent 5000g for fast flight and in less than a week I was back over 500g already.

Thanks for all the kind wishes. We spent yesterday afternoon digging through the boxes of family photos. It was bittersweet, but very good for all of us. Mom fussed at us a bit when we were little and took a whole roll of pictures of Ian in a day or two. Now she is grateful beyond words to have those pictures.

I'm coming down with a bad sore throat so I am staying home and keeping my germs to myself today.:

Buying gold is unethical because it is fueled by hackers. But buying gold does not put you at risk of being hacked unless you tell the seller something about your account, or go to a dangerous website in order to buy the gold with an insecure browser. In other words, it's only dangerous if you do something dangerous. Buying gold does put you at risk of being banned by Blizzard though, since it is against the TOS.

Honestly, I don't see the point of buying gold, in any case. It is easy to get gold in WoW, even easier since Wrath came out. You want to make gold? Be a JC. I have two of them. Just don't do it on Arygos and cut into my profits.

Regarding hacking: I got a Bliz authenticator recently and it's helped my peace of mind.

My toons for anyone updating the original thread:

Beable 80 Tauren Druid Arygos
Doidy 72 Troll Shaman Arygos
Tenderheart 72 Undead Warrior Arygos (my BC main, now forsaken)

My brothers bought gold once, but that was when the game first came out. I do think it was harder to accumulate gold back then. Now I am level 27 and already have almost 30 gold, which never would have happened when I played before. I think it has to do with the server economy changing now with the newest expansion. Everyone wants to level their alts' professions ASAP. So on Dragonmaw I can easily get 2 gold at the AH for 20x bolts of linen cloth. INSANE, but hey, works for me!

So I complained to my guild, my husband and my friend, but I'll complain here too. I did Utgarde Pinnacle. I was the pally healer. The tank was a pally. We also had a balance druid (who is in my guild), a warlock, and a warrior, I think--I can't quite remember. We were doing the quests, most of us, so we had to pick stuff up in the instance. I was stopping to drink, and the pally kept running on ahead and attacking stuff. I was all annoyed because of how he just kept charging right in, prematurely, then almost dying. The druid started complaining about how sloooooooooooow he was. Whatever, my guildie was probably trying to complain about me, but the tank would almost die before I got up to heal him, and then I'd have to holy shock and heal the others who were taking damage.

Anyway, when we got to the end (after wiping just twice), a healing shield dropped. I was going to roll need, but then the tank said he was rolling need because it had more block and armor than his current shield. I felt sorry for him, so I passed. But geez, after thinking about it, I was annoyed. I started to wonder if he was really specced prot because of how he would almost die in a fight before I got there, and I had to heal him constantly. So I looked him up on the armory, and he was prot, but his gear was not great. He had Scourgebane, the +15 stamina trinket that pallies get early on, he had the Libram of Wracking, which increases the spellpower of exorcism and holy wrath by 120, and Horn of Argent Fury trinket which has the chance to chastise the enemy for 1024 to 1536 holy damage. We were in Pinnacle, which as far as I know has only a few undead. His defense was only 430, 30 more than mine. Sheesh, no wonder!

ETA: not that I'm that great either.

I've noticed some ridiculous prices at the AH lately too! I sold stacks of silk and heavy leather recently for quite a bit last weekend. Like 3g/ stack.

KittyKat, I'm sorry about your brother!

I think it was me, since it went down right after I logged on :

So, while we speak I am moving my lvl 73 hunter to my account on Runetotem (since it is down got nothing else to do LOL). Someone invite Avinka when you see her.

ETA: So I am not moving her over tonight. I got my new video card (YEAH!) and installed that. And then ordered WOTLK from Amazon (for only 29.99) and then put on a 10-day free trial of WOTLK which will last me until I get it. But WoW won't let me move a lvl 73 hunter onto an account that only has a WOTLK trial. So I now have WOTLK on my account, but no one high enough to benefit....
