tubular breasts - preconception

I just realized that a friend of mine has tubular breasts. She has always been very self-conscious of them but has grown to accept them as a variation of normal. They are asymmetrical and very small with a proportionately large areola.

Anyway, she's not ttc right now but may be in the next few years. She comes from a fairly conventional upbringing but we have had many conversations about CLW and she is very much on-board

So anyway, I just realized that there is an actual condition to describe her breasts and I'm wondering what to do. I don't want to plant the seed that she may have a problem with producing milk and have her worry when it is really quite far off. At the same time, if there is something that she could do before she gets pregnant to help increase her breast tissue, I really want her to know about it.

So is there anything that can be done about tubular breasts before becoming pregnant? Is it better to just wait and see?

I know that it doesn't mean that she won't be able to produce any milk but it seems like a very grim prognosis.

You are right, there is a chance she'll bf w/ no problems, but most commonly would be supply issues. There's really not much that can be done that I know of. I'm following the MOBI herb guide right now to help my supply hopefully when baby comes. I've read PCOS is linked to IGT b/c of problems in early puberty. Metformin, especially while pg is said to help sometimes as well as progesterone shots later on.

Come on gals, I know you're out there!!

I read something about progesterone on another site... anyone tried that?

She also gets really bad PMS symptoms and has had hypothyroid but that has regulated. It does seem that there is something hormonal going on but she has fairly regular cycles.

So, about increasing breast tissue... what could she do?

If she goes to the doctor, what tests should she ask for? Is there a chance they'll be knowledgeable?

Hit me with what you know!! I'd love some websites that have more info, I'm at a loss.

She could take alfalfa. And Goat's rue.

It does sound like she will have problems with supply and may need to supplement right from the start. She should see a LC and get an official diagnosis, just for her peace of mind. Thinking your baby is feeding well and finding out they aren't eating anything is pretty difficult to deal with. And you always hear that ANYONE can breastfeed, just keep trying etc etc...sometimes it's just not true!

Google "breast hypoplasia"

Has she been checked for PCOS? I think thyroid issues go along w/ that as well.
