shut off timer??

I'm looking for a reliable and safe shut off timer for the computer. I'm thinking of saying yes to Netflix, but that will only work if there is no option of staying up all night or getting up in the wee hours to watch movies and shows.
Dh and oldest ds don't have much concept of time when zoning out, which is part of why we don't have tv.
I've looked and found a few free downloads, but those make me nervous without a recommend.
Anyone have one of these? That they like?
TIA

My computer has a setting (under Energy Savings) to automatically shut-off at 7 pm (or whenever you set it to.) Yours might have something similar. Are you able to set Parental Controls on your to make the computer shut off at a certain time?

My energy savings options allow me to shut things off after a maximum of up to 5 hours of inactivity. I can't find anywhere that will let me shut off the system at a pre-set time.
I have Windows XP, could there even be an update somewhere than would allow me to do this?

You might be able to set a password to get into Windows that only you know, so that your kids have to have you enter it to use the computer. For me, this would be under control panel, then user accounts. You have to enter a password before you can even view the desktop. Not sure this will work for your situation, but thought I would mention it.
