Well, bad news.

I had posted here about thinking my water broke. http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1022585 And everything seemed to be going fine.

Well my MW is having trouble trying to find someone who will attend my birth with her because I am not 37 weeks yet (only 2 days off and my ovulation be about 2 days off according to my chart, so I would be 37 weeks). She's on her way now to feel for size of baby again, check to make sure my water has indeed broken, and discuss whether or not we should do a hospital birth. I am so very sad about this. I know I have to do what's best for the baby...but I really think everything would be okay. I dunno, I guess we'll see what happens after she gets here.

I honestly think you should stand your ground and deliver at home. and I am not understanding why 2 days is such a big huge deal.

Hold your ground. Hope you are holding your LO soon.

Good grief! If I'm this frustrated with your MW, you must be ready to scream. Ugh.

If I were you, I'd be doing what it takes to fudge on my dates right now - either insisting to your MW you were off and thus you actually are 37 weeks (I wouldn't personally fudge over more than a couple of days, but this is ridiculous!) or - if you think she will back you up on it - tell her you know you are two days off but she should just tell her backups you're 37 weeks.

I mean, come on. TWO DAYS!? It's especially frustrating that she told you she would attend and is now possibly backing out. If she wasn't going to be able to secure backup, she should have never said that.

I really hope it works out for you. I would be fighting tooth and nail to stay home.

Thanks guys.

I think the problem is the size of the baby. She estimates him to be less than 6 lbs. She would like him to be bigger so that he has an easier time regulating his body temperature and all that.

The amniotic fluid test was negative. She said it could have been that I leaked and it has sealed over. I have no idea what else it could be.

So I am on a high protein diet and rest until Monday. No cooking, cleaning. I guess Monday just to see if I can get past the 37 week mark a few days. Of course this all happened when my dh was leaving for work so I have all the kids by myself. Plus, I cook from scratch all the time so I don't have anything I can just pop in the oven or anything. It's frustrating, but I certainly do want him to be healthy when he comes out.

I asked her what happens if I go into labor at 37 weeks and she said you're fine, it's not a problem. She stated it was the other midwives who were having a hard time with the earliness of it all and she always brings a back up so it was posing a problem. Apparently state law says 36 weeks, so that is not a problem (I thought it was 37) but his size and the other midwives not feeling comfortable with it.

So hopefully this will all be over and done with soon. Thanks for putting up with my big soap opera.

Heads are going to roll if I wind up going late after all this.

Well, sounds like a little good news. Sending sticky baby thoughts for the next two weeks or so.
