What kind of circ is this?

I was discussing the circ issue with a friend of mine, who told me he did not know if he was circ'd or not. (stange but true and I have had several other guys tell me this. So he wanted me to tell him (just as friends-said friend is of the homosexual persuasion ) Immediately I thought "no, you're intact....wait" What foreskin he does have left can almost cover the glans completely, and there appeared to be a portion of the frenulum still there...but he had the telltale scarring. The whole thing was puzzling, I'd never seen anything like it before. Since he does have so much skin, I told him he'd probably be a good candidate for restoration. (At the same time I feel so very bad for him, and everyone out there who is a victim

Sounds like loose circumcision to me.

Sounds like a loose circ to me. My DH is circ'd but his foreskin still covers all but the tip of his glans and he still has his frenulum. They basically just cut off the very end and he lost the ridged band :-( He's very lucky.

My DH too. He was horrified when I told him that most circ'ed boys lose their frenulum.

This was the other thing that confused me! He still has some of the ridged band! It was clearly visible on the right side, but much of it was missing from the left.

Could he just have a mild deformity because perhaps he has hypospadius? (sp?) Sometimes this condition can misshape the foreskin.

If he has some ridged band left then the whole tip of his foreskin couldnt have been removed. I am leaning toward thinking he was born with a slight defect possibly hypo. Did you by any chance see his urethral opening? If it was off center by a bit I would about bet he wasnt circed but has mild hypo. Or possibly just a problem with the growth of the foreskin.

It is also very possible that when the Dr preformed the circ he messed up and only cut the one side. Stranger things have happened.

Sure he's not intact and just has a short foreskin? Could the scar you see be from premature forcible retraction (which was reccomended by Drs till recently.)

Just to correct people on this because almost everyone in this post is using the wrong term.

If the description is correct, then this guy does not have a "loose circumcision" he has "partial circumcision".

A loose circumcision still looks like like a circumcised penis, just there is a lot of extra skin. This person has more then some loose skin, it sounds like most of his foreskin was not removed.

Its important to have accurate terms here.

My DH always thought he was intact because his foreskin covers the glanz and he has his frenulum. I couldn't find a scar and spent quite a bit of effort trying to identify the ridged band.
We just found out from his parents DH had a partial circ' (while intact FIL is trying to convince us to get our sons cut!!). My understanding is they pull the baby's foreskin up away from the body, without retracting, and cut the end off. I think it would be pretty easy to remove part of the ridged band and leave the frenulum this way. He should consider himself lucky that he kept as much as he did. We know how lucky DH is.

Sorry to hijack, but I was wondering - mntnmom, is your husband German?

I was under the impression circ was very rare over there, but I've heard some things to the contrary too.

You should tell FIL that if he thinks circumcision is so great he should go out and get himself done!

I guess he kind of annoys me because he reminds me of that first generation of circing parents in America who all thought circumcision was a great idea, yet they themselves valued their genitals too much to get cut themselves. Why do it at all then !

The majority of men is intact- but you will run into some circed men as well. Some were subjected to "medical treatment" about 20 years back- "phimosis" war a frequent diagnosis in 2-5 years olds. And then you have some men over 50 that seem to have been circed.

But overall you will find an intact majority.

But yes, bad medical advice just doesn't die.
