rash - new reaction to the same things?

My DD is 7+ months old. She was BF & FF (milk-based) until 5 1/2 months, and has been FF since then (long story). We've been introducing solids over the last few months, and she never had any reactions to anything.

A few weeks ago she got a nasty ear infection and ended up on antibiotics. I asked the Dr about allergic reaction since my husband is allergic to penecillin, but he claimed she probably wouldn't react to anything until the second exposure anyway. In any case, she got a rash about 7 days into the penecillin, so I figured she must be allergic, but as a precaution I stopped all solids also. The rash went away after a few days, but with holidays & everything I ended up not giving her any solids for a week or so. Two days ago I gave her rice cereal & pears and again last night and I noticed a rash again.

The rash is pretty mild - raised red bumps, almost like a heat rash - on her belly. Doesn't seem to bother her at all.

I haven't changed anything else, though come to think of it I did have her wear an outfit my mom gave her for xmas when we went to see her yesterday without washing it first (bad mommy)...

What would you do? Reintroduce rice & pears by themselves again?

My DD reacted the first time she had amoxicillan (3 days into it). Your doctor doesn't know what he's talking about. Maybe not the first dose (though that's debatable if she was exposed in the womb).

Ear infections are sometimes caused by dairy (excess fluid). That's something to think about.

Yes, back off of everything, then try things separately. Start keeping a food journal.

If you stopped the antibiotics early, you may have caused the bacteria to become immune to that antibiotic, and stronger in general....

thanks - yeah - I did finish the antibiotics. Tried plain rice cereal tonight & no reaction. Only got her to eat a small amount though, as she likes it more mixed in with other stuff...
