Need Pics of Play Rooms - Page 2

I thought I posted a link ... hmmm ...

Ok, here it is! These 2 things are in our living room. We do have toys in their shared bedroom but they are mostly just stored and not played with in there. I'll have to take a better shot of the entire LR if I can sometime soon.

how is the layout of you room? what furnitur do you have in there? thats my biggest prob right now

The LR is rectangular and has a big opening into the kitchen. There is a window on either wall, but then a porch door and 2 windows on the other wall that make it hard for shelf/couch placements. The place where the big entertainment center/shelf is now could ONLY fit there in this house. No other place has a large enough wall (and it's not even a large wall, but big enough).

We used to have a couch and a loveseat in here, but it was too crowded so we moved the loveseat upstairs (our room is as large as the LR, it's directly above it in a loft-like area). So right now it's a entertainment center/shelf, couch, expandable table for homeschooling, and a expedit 2x4 shelf for homeschooling/etc. We have extra seating that we can pull out if need be, or we use the massive amount of couch pillows that you will see in one of the pics. These pics are totally raw ... since they were taken during the day, you get to see our mess! No sense picking it up until dinner.

Great set up!! Where did you find the expandable table?

It's from IKEA - Norden Gateleg.

I have more pics of it here on my HS blog: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/UnlikelyMother/601765/

thats almost exactly my problem. i think our solution is to get rid of a loveseat and recliner but its so hard to make that leap for DP i think. kind of puts us over the edge as far as "kids rule here". but well..they kind of do anyway so we should just admit it and succumb! lol!

My husband was hesitant to do it too, but it has made an amazing difference! With the way it was before, it looked like the children were taking over. Now I leave some toys/books out but it's definitely not overpowering when it's all put away.

Thank you - I've really revamped the toy situation in our house in the last year or so. My DS also has sensory issues, so 99% of toys that blinked or beeped or talked were donated. He also chewed on a lot of things, so the cheap plastic things had to go. I've found that the more open-ended the toy, the more it gets played with...

DH built the kitchen and dollhouse a few months ago, modeled after photos that we found online. We're lucky because they were out of our price range, and he built them for a quarter of the price. He's a keeper!

Favorite store is Land of Nod - mostly for ideas and then I love to hunt down a good bargain! I have a lot of good luck with a store called Home Goods (like a Marshalls or TJMaxx), especially in the kitchen department. Lots of marked down wooden bowls, boxes and baskets. They also have a really nice selection of unique toys.

Online favorite site for ideas: http://saras-toy-box.blogspot.com/

Good Luck with your playroom - send pics!

Sure! DH modeled the kitchen after photos from Willow Toys. No directions, just stared at the picture for a while. DD helped too, which was really nice!He used pine and finished it with some type of natural oil (?).

That dollhouse is the exact thing I'm looking for. Hmm...I wonder if dh or my dad could make it for me.

Which dollhouse inspired you?

What are the dimensions of it? It looks pretty large.
