Want to check out a UU church but a bit apprehensive

I just stumbled in here but have been meaning to ask about this.

I grew up going to Christian churches and consider myself a Christian, but more of an open-minded one. I haven't been to a church in quite a while, since early pregnancy I think. There are a couple churches I have attended a while back, one of them was the bigger, modern type with a band and all that (which I am musically inclined so I really like that). the other one I went to once was Disciples of Christ and they seem very genuine and open-minded. Much smaller church.

Since DS is 2.5yo now, sometime in the near future I would like to take him somewhere regularly, just so he can learn about spiritual things and form his own opinion when he gets older.
There is a UU church that is only about 15 min. from my house, I checked out their website a while back, but it's hard to tell what it's like and I don't know anyone else that attends. I'm very shy around people I don't know so it's very hard for me to go to new things by myself.

How does a typical UU church work when you have a toddler with for the service? I dont' want him to get bored and us have to leave. I know I would not feel comfortable putting him in a 'sunday school' type class away from me and he wouldn't either, unless I had been going there a while and knew the people.

I am thinking of possibly attending regularly, the smaller DOC church AND the UU church (if I and DS like it). Nothing strict though, I mean go regularly but not every single Sunday.

I would like him to learn about different world religions, do they teach about those starting from a young age?
Sorry if these were already answered earlier, if so please let me know where to read.

thanks!

At our UU church, there is a play group for 2-4 year olds. Every other weekend, the children start out for a story time in the main room and are led out with a song down to the play room downstairs.

The RE classes are for 4-11 year olds. Then they have something for older kids, as well.

Here are some questions for all of you who are members of a UU church:

Does your church record sermons (video or sound)? Also, do they have live feed where you can hear the sermon if you're in another room (parish hall; etc)?

I'd like to approach my minister with one or more of these options but would like to include an idea of the expense and How To.

Thanks! (feel free to pm me with your answer).

We don't usually record sermons (as far as I know). We do have a live feed with speakers in the kitchen and the peace library downstairs. I have no idea how much setting that up cost, but I doubt it was very much because one of our members is knowledgeable about audio equipment and I believe he set it up. I can ask if you'd like.
