Where to Find a Waldorf Table Suitable for 8 Toddler/Preschool Aged Children?

Hello, I have just stumbled upon this site today, and have already learned so many amazing things! I am currently attending studying Early Childhood Education at Naropa University in Boulder, and someday soon plan to create a Waldorf-inspired toddler/preschool program on a little farm. Wondering if anyone can knows where one can purchase a well made wooden table for doing crafts and sharing meals that can seat at least 8 munchkins?

I'm not sure where to get a Waldorf table that large, but my husband cut the legs down on our old kitchen table and made it just the right height for little ones. We can fit six small chairs comfortably around the table (though we only have two little ones). Currently we have it pushed against the wall and use two sides for our art work. Hope that helps!

if you know someone that can make one, buy some wood and make it that would be the easiest way. DH just made dd a table and chairs over the week end. I will post some pics later. Came out really sweet

the waldorf schools around here seem to mostly have either home made or community playthings tables and chairs but that is way pricey imo.

If you have an unfinished wood furniture store near you you might be able to find one there. Cutting the legs off a table is a good idea too! You could easily make a basic one too that may not be as pretty but would work just fine.

I think we will either befriend a local woodworker(please let me know if you know of any in the Boulder, CO area!) or perhaps we will experience the adventure of making it ourselves. We will need to invest in tools, and we would like to start making more Waldorf playthings. I have toured various Waldorf kindergartens, and definitely want something that is beautiful and sturdy for the children that I will be caring for. Thanks again for the great suggestions!!!

I'm curious about this, too, as I'm about to start a Waldorf parent and toddler group and would love a wooden children's table. Anyone else have any ideas?

I just use my train table for everything. I don't know if it could seat 8 children, but it works for four or five easily. They just sit on the floor or pillows- or chairs, but their knees won't go under the table. I use it for painting, crafts, block play, trains of course, the doll house, etc... And it doubles as a coffee table when company is over; I just cover it with a nice throw.

Unfortunately our table came with these ugly particle board toppers, but I am planning on replacing them with pine boards when I get the chance.
