Savory muffin?

[Chinese Pistache]

We're having friends over tonight, a big crowd, so I'm making chili. I'll make corn muffins for everyone, and some other kind of muffin for me and dd. I've found a universal gluten and corn-free muffin batter recipe, but what's a non-sweet (or less sweet) way to flavor it?

You could make a millet muffin. To me, millet meal is a lot like corn meal. I don't think of corn muffins as "savory" really. The millet muffin recipe is in the recipe stickies at the top of the page. I can't even think of a spice to put in it... chili powder? My MIL always made (very dry) corn muffins with chili. We grew up with chili over rice.

Thanks! That seems like a great idea. You're right, corn muffins aren't exactly savory. Most have a good amount of sugar in them. I guess I was just thinking that they aren't fruity.
