crochet a carrier?

My sister wants to crochet a pouch sling for me. I have never seen anything like this. Can anyone think of a reason not to? She did mention using two types of material together (yarn and something else) to make it not too stretchy. And she sewed all my pouches for my last DD so she knows the patterns/safety issues. Just wondering what other people think.

I have made one, I made it with 3 strands held together, so it was very strong. That was my only worry, the strength, I only used it from newborn to about 5 months, after that I got scared and switched to a wrap.
