Babywearing - help - baby hates it!

I have a Babyhawk Mai Tei and a sleeping baby productions ring sling... Neither work... He makes himself kinda stiff and it's hard to get him into the ring sling - he just cries!

He loved the MaiTei in the beginning, but ever since he is bigger, it's a no I wonder what I can do... Do you have any advice how to put him in the carriers?

DS is 4 months old and weighs 21.1 pounds @ 26 inches...

Thanks!!!!

Can you put him on your hip with the sling? DD is kinda ok with it. Other than that I have pretty much given up on the MT and just leave her in her babybucket or put her in the sling. I'm not stressing about it no more. Also, apparently you can put baby on your hip with the MT but I've never tried it. http://kozycarrier.homestead.com/ins...tml#anchor_419

At that age my children started getting antsy. I then switched to high back carries in the wrap or Kozy MT. That way they can face forward.

4 months old is a pretty typical transition phase where they don't like having their legs froggied up any more. Have you tried bunching up the base of the MT so he can have his legs out? In the sling, have you tried a tummy to tummy position with legs out -- still on your front, but with legs coming out the bottom of the sling?

Something like the Pikkolo is also a great choice at this age because you can do a forward-facing out position.

Yes, there came a point where mine preferred to see everything, so I had to do a high back carry and keep moving. If I stood still for too long, baby got irritated.

At that age a baby's vision becomes much more clear and they want to see everything. So definitely try the hip carry in your RS and highback carry in the mei tai. Or even the buddha (facing out, legs froggied in) in the ring sling if he doesn't mind his legs in. In a month or two you'll probably notice other developmental changes and that seeing/facing forward isn't as important to him anymore. He'll probably want to be up/down and in/out a lot next so get ready

You've gotten good advice already - definitely try a high back carry in the mei tai, legs out.

It will probably get easier as time goes on if you stick with it. When I saw the title I though "let me guess - this is a 3-4 month old" - it's kind of an awkard in-between time where it can seem scary to try back carries, etc. but yet they've outgrown the cradle carries.
