Nurses - medical txt and reference -information

I'm wondering what Medical txt and reference guide were used during your nursing school and what other medical professionals use ?

I seen to see Mosby Labatory Testing and Diagnostic is one and I know it was outdated when a doctor didn't think I needed medicine for my hypothyroidsim when I needed it badly then that was in 98.

So I wanted to know is it still pretty outdated and do many still use it ?

If they do use an outdated book like this how or why don't they get something for more updated information?

I saw this mosby book as a text book listed for MT and nurses in a bunch of class listing

I just graduated from nursing school. Mosby's was one of our books but the books are updated every year or two. The class behind me is still using the same med-surg books as we did but thier drug reference and lab books have been updated.

The Mosby's Diagnaostic, Drug Handbook, and textbooks I have are all from my nursing school - years ago. But I only keep them for personal home use, for reference.
In nursing school, my school always, always, always changed text books and required NEW one's each fall, ensuring the up to date version was used (and ensuring only their bookstore made a profit on new books). I'm assuming it's still the same way at my college and I think most medical and nursing schools require new, updated texts.

As far as my workplace goes, most of their reference books are fairly current. I think we may have a few drug books that are 3 years old but one can always find a current PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) and if something comes up that we don't know, we just call pharmacy or lab (they always have the most current info, more accurate than any book).
