The title says it all, and I just needed to vent. I don't think my brother's fiancee likes us all that much, and she has apparently told her friends and family that we don't vaccinate our kids (most certainly as part of conversations where she goes on and on about what great parents we are
). They are getting married soon, and apparently some people with young children are refusing to come to their wedding -- because we will be there.
I'm basically left speechless. Thankfully my brother thinks they're idiots and supports our choice even if he doesn't 100% agree with it. I asked him what these people do at the grocery store? Library? Playground? Do they interview all those parents to make sure they vaccinated their children?
And FWIW, it's a black tie wedding. Dinner starts at 9 PM. My 3.5 yo dd1 is the flower girl, and will probably be put to bed in our hotel room shortly after she eats (her regular bedtime is 8:30!). It's not like the kids will be running around for hours swapping germs. And even if they were ... Seriously! What are the odds?!?!
I actually feel sorry for people who live with so much fear in their lives. I haven't done the math, but I'm guessing the odds are higher that they would get in a car crash on the way to the wedding than that my children would give their children a disease.
