Hi, just wondering if you found anything else out? I was also looking into BLUE ICE High Vitamin Cod Liver Oil, we eliminate soy and dairy but are non IgE (but he reacts to all soy/dairy). Should I chance it?

I gave up on asking questions. I think I might just take a chance on the raw fermented and see how DD tolerates it. I will be really bummed if she reacts though, since it's like $40 a bottle!

Did you see this online: http://www.greenpasture.org/node/49 ?

He says: "The fermented clo is a double edge sward for some. The FCLO goes through a lacto-fermentation process to extract the oil from the liver. This is a similar lactic acid process that apple cider vinegar goes through. As a result, the fermented clo will have a similar feel in the back of the throat as apple cider vinegar."

I am not sure what your confusion is, the raw fermented CLO can burn the back of the throat, but it is hardly a reason not to take it. It is not a big deal.

Did you read another quote from Dave of GP, I posted above?

Quote:
the only negative to the fermented (if you can call it a negative) is that it is high in lactic
acid so it has a different feel in the back of the throat. i describe it similar to raw apple cider vinegar. it makes me want to clear my throat after taking. some struggle with this. if so then take the capsules. or mix with foods. in the old days people took the clo with something acidic like orange juice or tomato juice.

I did read it, but was still confused about the lactic acid content. Is this from lacto-fermentation with some sort of milk product or like sauerkraut is 'lacto-fermented' from salt?

I was getting ready to reorder from GP but now confused. I'm am on other boards and the have said not to use the fermented clo because they said that there is an imbalance in nutrient levels between omega-3 and vitamins A and D. Then on another board they said that the vitamin d should be 5 x's as much as the vitamin a. I am so lost in this. I have been taking the fermented for 3 months now along with the butter oil, as well as an additional d3 supplement (which has brought my levels up some). But what should I do? Is the fermented the best way to go?
Also, I wanted to add that I spoke with Dave and he said he's coming out with a combo butter oil and fclo pill soon. :

Subbing, because I'll have to start John on CLO again after I intro my supps. And my crystal says CLO, not fish/krill oil. And we are avoiding soy as well.

Are you/they ok with molasses? My almost 5 y.o. decided to do it that way this morning since it was making her smoothies taste gross. You can't really taste it mixed with molasses since that taste is so strong. My 3 y.o. won't take it so she gets the Radiant Life Quantum brand.

We finally ran out of our NN CLO. So, I ordered fermented CLO (plain flavor) from here: http://www.building-health.com/ It is much cheaper than on the Green Pastures site. And when you buy 2 bottles, you save another $6. So, it was $36.90 vs. $49 (at Green Pastures), and shipping was FREE!

I don't know.

I figured when it arrived, I'd research it a bit. There are some recent threads about vit D dosing. "They" keep changing the "answer" to your question. There are concerns about the vit A to vit D ratio. And concerns about the type/source of vit D. And vit K and vit C and zinc are all interconnected, iirc. So, I'm not keen on supplements due to their ambiguity. However, I do believe that a bit of naturally fermented cod liver oil, seems to be a 'food' product.

Currently, we've been using a couple of teaspoons of NN CLO twice a day, when I remember. Average about once a day. I figure, I'll forget to give us a dose of the fermented CLO occasionally. And sometimes remember twice in a day.

You CAN get too much vit A, which it has. And you CAN get too much vit D, which it has. So, following the label is your best bet. Perhaps.

Here is an article about vit D. Not sure how recent or accurate it is. http://www.cure-guide.com/Natural_He...vitamin_d.html

Looks like an adult dose of 1000iu of vit D is ok, the fermented CLO has approx. 600iu per 1ml.
