Big Heavy Mirror WWYD

We have a mirror we bought, oh, FIVE, years ago, that is *still* not up!

At first, it was total procrastination but as the kids got older, I have this fear of putting it up and having it fall on one of them. Am I being irrational?

I really love it, and I have the perfect spot on the wall for it, but can't shake the fear of it falling and smashing one of them

WWYD?

I have an old, heavy mirror that hung in my grandparents' home - it is at least 50 years old.

Find the studs on the wall, put nice big nails in the studs, and hang the mirror with heavy wire criss-crossed over both nails. The hooks on the back o fthe mirror should be about 1/4 of the way from the top (I'm guessing). String the wire as follows: imagine looking at the wall and wire as if the mirrir was invisible. From left to right, you see hook on back of mirror (1), nail in wall stud (2), nail in wall stud (3), and hoook on mirrror (4).

Tie the wire to 1, run it over nail 3, through hook 4, back up over Nail 2, and tie it off again on Hook 1.

That mirror is never going to go anywhere.
