Just wondering what would work here for me. I'm having this LO in early June. There for I'll be out and about constantly w/ my other boys who will be 5 and 6 then.
Most comfortable for the summer?
breast feeding?
Long time wear?
And stable enough for a lot of activity?

Thanks for the help!!!

I was 1st able to bf in my new native pouch sling. Now that DD is bigger I prefer my baby hawk mei tai, but still keep my nn in my diaper bag just in case I need it.

Depending on the size of your baby, something like this might work really well:

It has been my favorite since my son was able to sit up on his own, etc. He is generally about mouth-level with the boob (as you can see in the photo on the website), and it's perfect for nursing.

I found the Kozy the easiest and most comfortable to nurse in. But I didn't get one until my LO was 20 lbs. I don't know how it would be with a newborn. But it is my favorite!

Thank you! I checked all of them out. I'm still confused HA HA HA HA! It's hard when you can't try them on

Do you think this sling would work going camping? We camp a lot! I want something that will fit the outdoors 24/7. Does it mess with your shoulders at all?

Has anyone heard of hotslings? if so, what do you think? I found that one as I was browsing around. The reviews on it said it was more convenient because you didn't have to tie anything, plus it's very handy for breast feeding. Anyone familiar w/ this product?

So, i'm still confused!!! LOL

Oh yeah, my other two babes were around 6 pounds when born, if that helps any LOL

I've found that I don't like how shallow the pouch is in the hotsling. I prefer the deeper pouch of the new native. when I nursed dd in it I had her up right like this

MommyLyon, I've been in a similar spot, 2 active boys & tons of errands & activities to bring the 3rd along to. I tried all types of carriers & love them all for different things, but for nursing a newborn I can't find anything that works for me better than a maya wrap. I know its not ideal that its on one shoulder, but in the very early days, when they are teeny, it really isn't bad. I love that its adjustable, I can put baby really high up, turn him slightly to nurse & then tuck the tail of the sling under itself so it hides any chub that might be showing from my belly! I could walk around the store nursing & shopping & noone had a clue.

I reread your first post & yes, I think the maya wrap is good for summer, they wear similar stuff in Guatemala & its hot there! I found it to breathe pretty well.

Thank you, that is exactly what I am looking for. I think the Maya wrap is for me. I will give it a try
Thanks so much, It's so hard to shop for something you can't try on, or in my case no nothing about. LOL
Do you know of a good site to by this wrap from?
How do you know which size is right for you?

This eased my mind also. It gets very hot in the summer, I was a little worried about wrapping the LO in more cloth
Plus we spend a lot of time at the lake, we have shade, but it gets hot!

Thanks again for your input

It sounds and looks awesome! I just don't know what size to get??????
I'm 5-4 and 135lbs before I got preggers. any suggestions?

My other question is, lets say I get a med size will my 6-4 250lbs husband be able to wear it too? or is he just too big? LOL

So many questions!!! Sorry girls! Thanks for all your help

We have a store near me that stocks them, so I was able to go in and be fitted for the proper size. Sorry I'm of no help...

he'll be too big, but if you want him to be able to wear it just get a large. all it is is a longer tail & you could use that as a sun shade or nursing cover. I'm almost the exact same size as you (1in shorter) & I have a large ring sling. I really like having the longer tail.

Honestly I think you'd be better with a medium -- on you, a large is going to be pretty long. Your dh will be able to wear the medium too but he won't have a huge amount of tail to deal with. Which is fine for most guys.

But for camping, etc. I'd look into a two-shouldered carrier as well. A Kozy or other good quality MT really frees up your hands in a way that a ring sling or pouch doesn't, and you can even learn to do a high back carry and get your newborn/very young baby up on your back. I also really like nursing in a MT, too.
