Vaccinations and Digestion

Does anyone know if vaccinations affect newborn digestion and elimination? It seems I have heard/read that somewhere but now I can't find anything. My DD1 who was fully vaccinated until 12 mo had dramatically different elimination patterns than DD2 who is not vaccinated at all.

I am just wondering if it is possibly the vaccinations or just luck.

Yes, of course injecting viruses affects the digestive system and the whole gut. Why that is one of the problems with the MMR, that the measles might get stuck in the gut and the child works for years to get them out.

Yes, I think they can have an effect. Because 70% of the immune system is in the gut, and vaccines change the immune system.

Your thread title caught my eye.

I don't know about babies, but several years ago my DH got a tetanus after he cut his hand open and he was completely miserable after it. His stomach was very messed up for a couple of weeks.

Early in my pregnancy with my daughter I was bitten by a dog. I didn't know any better at the time and my OB scaredmongered me into getting the tetanus toxoid : and I also had major digestion issues for a couple of weeks.

I can only imagine the kind of havoc it could wreck in a small baby's eco system that hasn't fully matured yet.

Before I knew any better I had both an MMR booster (for college) and the Hep B series (for a job after college). Since the MMr I have had terrible tummy issues which I never could understand why, but I really believe these vaccines have played a role. Im just begging to feel better 8-10 years later!

Of course it can damage the gut and cause digestive issues. Most kids on the autism spectrum have digestive problems, and that is also why a lot of parents find "success" when they try alternative diets (i.e., dairy free, gluten free, etc.).

A good friend of mine had and 8 week old that was EBF and was pooping at every feeding. After the 2 month shots her baby didnt poop for 32 days. When she took her baby in to the doc he said it was normal for a breastfed baby to do that. That was the last shot her baby ever got.

YES. They change gut flora and deactivate certain enzymes. They absolutely affect gut health....realize that is what they are designed to do. They also lessen the body's natural defense system. Vaccinating actually makes your body LESS able to handle disease.
