KAL anyone? Golden Compass Hat, adult size.

I have about ten rows on this pattern done http://earthlyfae.blogspot.com/2008/...lted-love.html and thought it would be fun to see other peoples FO if anyone is interested in a KAL.

I only knit about ten minutes a day so I'll prob be the last to finish but it is a very easy pattern so any beginners out there, this might be a great one for you.

I'm in. I should be able to handle this and although I really wanted to finish my scarf before my Lucy bag yarn gets here I do have the perfect yarn for this project.

Yay! Which yarn are you going to use? I picked some of the yarn used in the pattern at Michaels on sale so mine is going to look almost just like hers (I hope) but I am pretty curious what other yarns will look like as this pattern is so easy I'd love to make more once this is done and I wouldn't want to do an exact duplicate.

I'm using peace fleace but now I'm not sure it's bulky enough. Oh well, I'm giving it a try anyway. I'm not really expecting it to be successful since I think my guage is off too and I have no idea how to fix it. It will be a learning experience and I'm excited about that.

I've gotten 5 1/2 inches done today so far. I REALLY suprised myself because I never thought I could knit that amount in one day (there's hope for me yet!). I still have two hours to go until bedtime but some of that will go to the computer. I'm really falling in love with the yarn that I previously looked at and wondered what I would do with it. Chalk that up to being a silly newbie; my swap partner is so smart.

Thank you so much for posting this pattern. It has really boosted my confidence. I'm assuming it all worked out like this as Karmic 'thank you' for that personal shopping I did for you a few weeks ago. : :

: Glad to give something back : Although, you may begin to hate me when you hear I broke down and ended up going with Trofast Everytime I thought I could find something in a store it ended up being just the wrong size or wrong price... I'll dig up that orig. thread and post pics soon. It wasn't time wasted on your part though, I think tons of people will get / have gotten inspiration from your ideas!

Sounds like we are right at the same length right now, I hope to be finished by Friday.

Friday sounds like a good goal if I can figure out that seaming method. I haven't even tried to decipher it yet. I wish I could post pics but the camera battery is dead and the charger is MIA.

I was really having fun that night so no hurt feelings here over what you bought. As long as your happy; I'm happy.

I'm logging off to knit some more. I'll post an update tomorrow.

Let us know how that works!

I would love to try that pattern, and I always have PF in my stash!

I'm going to give it a go, but I have some other projects to finish off first.

Thanks for the link - I love this hat! I have to finish a doll for DS first, then I'm going to try this - probably in the yarn it calls for since it looks so great!

All I have left is the seaming and the ties. I'm pretty happy with it. I can't wait to weigh the left over yard and see if there would have been enough to double it and get a hat out of one skein. Hopefully, I'll have the final verdict tonight or early tomorrow.

Today, I learned that knitting is enough of a distraction that I can deal with my kids when I have a migraine.

Aiy yi yi... OUCH! I'm glad knitting helped you cope, I loathe and dread migraines.

I'm about the same point, but I'm debating going over the nine inches... my head is enormous! I plan to bind off tomorrow, so between now and then I'll make up my mind. Maybe just a few more rows.

I can't believe how fast it went, I have never tried so many stitches on straight needles before, but it was fun.

I'm finished. I decided to seam mine on the inside but I wish I had followed the directions and done it on the outside. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do the three needle seam well and I would end up with a big ugly thing on the back of my hat. I actually did well and it wasn't ugly at all, but it isn't very pointy now. I did drop a stitch trying to do the seam I was able to pick it up and sew it in with the tail since I had already finished binding off (it is barely noticable).

I have 1.75 ounce of peace fleece left. Just shy of enough to double the yarn and make one hat following the pattern. Of course I think my guage was a little big so maybe you could make it happen. It is fine with just one thickness but I think with two it would be really nice.

The hat isn't long enough for me. I hits 'just' under my chin and that's pulling it down some. From to back it seems to fit fine but for myself I would make it at least 4 inches longer, maybe more (I would have liked it pretty long). I think it will fit my girls well so all is not lost. If the girls fight over it I have some other very brightly colored bulky wool I will make another out of.

Bad, dark webcam pics... yipee I'm done! I think if I were to knit it again I'd start with maybe seventy or more stitches cast on and decrease down to sixty evenly on both sides to give a little more shaping and maybe five rows of stockinette instead of just three to add a bit more texture to the "brim".

It was really easy although when I finished the bind off and DH looked at it and said it looked like a half finished pillow case I was a bit

I think it was a good beginners project, I hope I can find some more like this!

I'm 2/3 (maybe more) finished with another one. As I expected DD1 wanted one after she saw DD2 in the first one. I cast on 70 stitches and I'm doing 5 stitches of 2x2 rib on each side. I hope that keeps it from folding under like the first one did.

Oooh! I was going to make my sister an ear flap hat in the round...but I think this one has more character! Whee! Off to knit... ... ...

That was fast! I can't wait to hear how that turns out!
