JOY-Luveris-recombinant human luteinizing hormone, I believe it's used in combination with Follistim. I go for a suppression check on Monday but the sample protocol I got is this, if all goes well.

Follistim to begin, then Ganirelix and Luveris is added on day 5, trigger on day 9 and then ER on day 11. After ER will be taking Doxycycline and medrol. Then ET either 3-5 days depending on the amount of eggs and how they look. Then PIO after ET, not sure if that helps. I'm totally clueless and enjoying my last few days without all the meds. Only one more day of BCP:

MTA - oh that last day of BCP is so exciting!
I'm starting to think they make up new protocols for each person depending on their issues, which is good. There are so many.

I say on another thread you were asking about counts for dh. Are you considering icsi? This can help if you have a low count. Just a thought...

CRM Where are you with your advice about constipation?? We could use it here. (the advice, not the constipation)

AFM, I've had af for a couple of days. Ugh. Lupron starts on Sunday and last bcp on Tuesday. I wonder if af will continue until then, or stop and start again. My big ol' box o' meds is still sitting in my foyer. I have to unpack and do inventory soon. Just FYI, I actually needed 2 of the sharpie containers last time and I think I ran out of the alcohol swabs. So, if you order refills, you might want to ask for a 2nd sharpie container. The swabs I just purchased from walgreens. They have them for diabetic customers that need the insulin injections.

Odd, I thought I had sounded off about that on this thread already, but I see not. It's becoming a bit of a joke because I am always talking about it, but I want to save others from experiencing what I did during my first IVF cycle.

Here goes: don't let yourself get constipated!!! It so annoyed me to have it happen to me and then have the nurses say how common it is, why not warn me earlier? Being badly constipated when you get to ER is horrible and no one wants to be straining and having pain to worry about after ET. I have found that any messing with my hormones gives me problems, even bcps. So drink extra fluids, eat lots of prunes, apples and pears, eat lots of steamed veggies and don't let it sneak up on you. And if you take things like metamucil, drink tons of extra water (taking it with inadequate fluids can make constipation worse).

joyashki, I am no in Seattle -- I'm in Redmond. I go to Dr. Janet Kennedy.
So the supression check was good, lots of antral follies. My dh's mophology is low too, I wonder if they will suggest ICSI?

Hi everyone! So I just got back from my official 1st IVF cycle appointment. Basically just a full exam and then scheduling. Turns out after years of complaining to different doctors and being dismissed, this doctor believes I have endometriosis. It runs in my family (which I always told the docs), so I am not super surprised. He said that might be the reason we have had such a hard time getting PG. He said the amount of pain I was in during the exam was not normal and really points towards endo. So very interesting indeed.

I start my BCP tomorrow (2/day) and then Lupron on 1/23 and Bravelle stims on 2/1. ER is planned between 2/11 and 2/14, then ET 3-5 days later. DH has to cancel a business trip that was for the 2/9-2/12 and I feel a little bad about that, but we both agree this is the most important thing right now. I can't wait to get my "box-o-drugs"...all my shots will be sub-q so that makes me really happy!

Hope everyone else is doing well and I can't wait for this to really get started!

BELLY-Welcome to IVF world, sorry you have to join us but hopefully this will be the last step for all of us. I just finished BCP 2 days ago, no Lupron for us. Time was going quick but now it feels so slow, suppression check Mon., crazy how we can't wait to go to the doctor, most people like to avoid doctors.

Hey Belly - I have endo too. A big endometrioma (chocolate cyst) on my left ovary and very likely endo tissue elsewhere. I am in pain during U/S too. About 8-10 years ago I had severe menstrual pain I had to have narcotics for, but it's not been so bad lately. They say it's worse when it's forming and then it eases up. I mean, I still take a bottle of 50 advil in 3 days for cramps, but I don't use vicodin anymore...
They haven't removed my endo cyst b/c they think it could damage the ovary more than help it, but sometimes I wonder what else is in there causing problems.
Have you had a history of severe cramps?

I must admit that I am a little jealous of you ladies with such short protocals. I had my first lupron shot yesterday, no problem. Tomorrow is my last of 21 days of bcp. Yeah! Suppression check on the 26th and then stims don't start until the 31st. I'm just twiddling my thumbs here. Although, tomorrow I go shopping for larger pants. Last time I was stuck with only one pair that would fit with all the bloating and what not from stimming. This time I'm treating myself to some new clothes, so hopefully it won't show so much.

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to share my great news for the day (and maybe it will help someone else - now or in the future). My RE orders our IVF meds through Ascend Pharmacy in Portland Maine. Anyway, I am doing Bravelle as my stim, and even though I don't have any prescription coverage, they offer their own plan for Bravelle. It cost $10 for a 1 year plan (all they offer), but I got my Bravelle at almost 50% off ($45/vial vs $81/vial). I am so excited about it!!!! My total IVF med cost was a little less than $1600 for the Lupron and Bravelle. My RE dispenses the progesterone, so I am guessing that is wrapped into my IVF cost.

The other good news is DH got the results from his penetration test and it was good so we don't need to do ICSI (which saves about $1000 - since we had to pay for the test).

I start Lupron on Friday and have my suppresion check next Thursday! I just hope I can get good results like the ladies on the January thread! : for tons of eggs!

BELLY-Saving money is wonderful, when RE told me they would take whatever my insurance paid for IVF(which was very little) it was like hitting the lotto. Good Luck. Dh just gave me my first injection of Follistim, I chickened out giving it to myself. And it was nothing, just felt a little tinge and that's it. The whole working yourself up is the worst part.

Julia's Mom - I start stims on the 1st, so we will probably be on a very close ER/ET schedule. Right now the plan for us is ER somewhere between the 11th and 14th...how about you?

Yep, it looks like the same schedule. Today I go in to check if I'm suppressed enough. If so, then it should be clear sailing. My first stim check appt will be February 4th. I must say, the lupron makes me so relaxed about everything. I had a much harder time dealing with bcp's then anything else. I take the lupron at night, since it makes me sleepy. Once I start stimming, I'm supposed to switch it to morning.

We're all on the Jan IVF thread, too. It's hard to keep up with both, huh! Since there are fewer of us here, we should make a list to keep track of all of our supression, stims, ER, ET, PIO and HCGs. I saw it on another forum and people just copy and update daily. Let's try it, could be fun!:

Cool, the list looks great on page 1. I'm still learning about using these threads. Is "pm" a personal message? how do you send one?

I posted my big scare on the Jan IVF thread. I thought I failed my suppression check, but it was only a cyst, so I still stay on schedule. WHEW!

Looks like most of us are waiting to stim! It's getting exciting! :
