Got any secrets to making purl 3tog easier?

I am having such a hard time with this. I can do two, but three is sending me over the edge I am trying to make the stitches looser, but it is still tough!
Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated

I haven't done k2 p3tog, but would a crochet hook help in some way, maybe to hook three stitches and then purl them together from the crochet hook?

Try this:

Slip two stitches to the right needle and purl the third. Then pass the two slipped stitches over the purled stitch and off the right needle.
