Man oh man.
I wanted to go without an epidural this time, but didn't think would happen. Anyway, here's the run-down:
I was shopping in from 4:30-5:30 (whilst chugging a Chik-fil-A chocolate milkshake) and was having some strong contractions...probably every 10-12 minutes?
Came home and timed them for awhile and we all sat down to a nice dinner. They were more like 6-7 minutes apart, but fairly bearable.
By some miracle I put DS1 down to sleep with a some very intense contractions that were coming at 4 minute intervals, that was at 9:30. This involved reading stories and cuddling until he fell asleep.
I really wanted to watch Top Chef from 10-11 and *did* watch with contractions coming one on top of the other -- crazy in retrospect!!
Then I didn't think I could make it to the hospital. Getting to the bathroom and then the car seemed impossible. Contractions were SO intense and baby seemed to shifting downward at a rapid rate.
I got through registration somehow and just about died when the nurse said that it would 45 minutes before they could give me an epidural.
Didn't matter.
When I told the nurse that I had to go poop she started wheeling me fast and said "she's having this baby, get that bed ready now!"
Of course, I expected that I'd just be 4-5 centimeters. But I was nearly complete.
Water broke and there was a ton of meconium, so that was a little worrisome.
Two pushes later he come out.
8 pound, 12 ounces (with a 14 inch, non-coned head). Born at 11:55 on 1/7...20 minutes after arriving at the hospital.
