Does anyone do spa with dd?

I read the article Saturday Night Spa by Ellen Wren in Mothering magazine...issue 144 Sep/Oct. 2008 and I thought wow, that sounds awesome...and so I suggested it to dd who will be 9 Feb 17th. I thought maybe she'd say i guess...but she was all excited! She has been getting more girly lately...dresses; wanting a Hannah Montana room etc. but I was still surprised. Anyway...we did it over winter break and it was great...she took a bath and then I took a bath and then we put on lotion and soaked our feet, did Noxzema face masks, etc..it was a really great bonding experience and we also did the candle ritual before and after like in the article...she loved it and we are going to do it as much as possible. So, anyone else already do this or are thinking about it? Did it also make you feel closer to dd? of course,we won't share the stuff they want kept private just as the author wont but what do you talk about that you can share?

I've done that with DD, and she really likes it! Not quite as elaborate, but joint pedicures etc.

Now when I was pregnant with her I used to do "foot soak/pedicure" with her big brother (he was three at the time). He loved it - but with him the thrill of "spa-time" didn't last!

My favorite is for either of my kids to brush my hair, but that's a completely different thread!

Ok this is gonna make me sound like a total flamer. But DD and I do spa things at home, and regularly get mani/peds at the real thing together. She calls it our "girl time" We both love it though. It something we enjoy that we can do together.

That is so sweet! Doesn't have to be just a male/female thing!

It's so nice to mention spa days and not have people telling me it's weird that I get my nail done.

I've done spa things with her a few times. I know she really likes it - we should do it more often!!

Glad I'm not the only one who loves spa with dd! MusicianDad, you are not weird...weird are people who would judge you because you enjoy time with dd..people really need to lighten up..how come it's ok for mommies to go help their little boys build things at lowe's but little girls aren't allowed to do spa with their daddies? Who makes these stupid rules.who cares? Rules are dumb and you rock!

I don't think of it as "spa" time. I think of it as mutual grooming. Our family does grooming stuff together from time to time. Last summer we had a lot of aloe plants, so DH skinned the aloe and we all put it on our faces and hair.

Sometimes we use commercial face products (masques, etc.) for fun.

We sometimes give each other foot massages.

DD trimmed & cared for DH's and my nails a while ago.

My DH taught the kids how to "thread" for hair removal.
