So...Freaking...Tired

Thread Starter
I'm 37-1/2 weeks along, and my energy level has been fluctuating wildly. I've had a few days where I've felt like I could conquer the world.l..Now, for the past two days, I feel like I could stay in bed all day. (Of course, life being what it is, I can't.) It's the kind of tired you get during a flu -- or the first trimester. I'm not sleeping super well -- probably getting about 6 hrs of sleep a night, as I wake up at 5 am without fail every morning -- but even with a good, solid nap in the afternoon, I'm not bouncing back. I'm okay in the morning, but by this time every day, I feel like a zombie. I have a big project at work that I really have to finish in the next week, and this is making it mega hard.

Anyone else going through this?

I have the opposite problem. Mornings just don't happen. I'm in bed for a good long time at night (we typically go to bed around 11 and watch some tv - I'm generally out by 12, and DS and I get up around 10:30 in the morning) but with getting up every so often to pee, I'm not sure how much REAL sleep I'm getting. We get up, eat breakfast, pretty much relax until we eat lunch and then lay down for our naps at 3. We get up around 5 and it's only after that that I have SOME energy, but I'm typically ready for bed by around 10. That's an insane chunk of the day spent sleeping or thinking about sleeping. I so hope I get the energy boost I got with DS after this one is born. I hardly slept those first few weeks, and I was fine with it. I didn't get the point in sleeping when I could lay there and cuddle and watch my cute little baby instead. lol

I was actually just going to post about this too! I couldn't remember feeling this tired/crappy at this point in my first pregnancy. And DS didnt arrive until 41 wks so the thought of going through 3+ more weeks of poor sleep and extreme tiredness while trying to get everything ready for new baby and care for a 20 month old has been stressing me out.
It helps to know that other people are going through the same thing though- I was starting to get worried that something might be wrong. Maybe the energy will return as baby's arrival date gets closer. Hopefully.

Yep, and noticed the energy just vanish at the 37 week mark also. Getting up with my dd, putting on toons for 1-2 hours so I can snooze, and sneaking a nap in the afternoon also if I can. I am not sleeping well at night at all. My hips go numb if I lay too long on one side and then turning over is a b*tch. Plus getting up every few hours to pee.

Yes, same problem here. I started taking Floradix not too long ago and my energy levels went WAY up. Maybe you're a little low on iron, even if the labs don't say so? It's worth a try.

Oh I am pooped too. I started doing thyroid glandulars and iodine a month ago and that has made me a new person- until this week. I think I am just at that point. I too get up at 5 am and might as well get something done rather than lay in bed in agony.... But I haven't had a chance for an afternoon nap in a really long time!

Wait?!!! You have a 2 year old who SLEEPS til 10:30? Is this a sick joke? I will trade you for a very sweet little girl who never sleeps past 8! That is amazing! I'm jealous!

I am the same way! I work from 7:00am - 2:00pm, then come home and take a warm bath and crash either in bed or on the couch until my husband gets home at 6:00. There is no way I could concentrate at work after 2:00pm...I just get too tired after I eat lunch. My husband gets up at 4:30am for work, so we go to bed around 9:00pm and that is just fine with me. Blehhhhhh...

I was able to lay down this afternoon (DS1 was at afternoon preschool and DS2 was napping) and I slept for 2.5 hours solid. Full-on, REM, out cold sleeping. I do this a few times a week and still have no trouble falling asleep again at 10:30pm....so yes, exhaustion, fatigue, whatever it is, is going strong.

lol Yes I do, but he also doesn't go to sleep without us, so it's not like I get any "me" time out of the deal. He's in bed with us when we go at 11 and generally sleeps until 10:30 or so. Although often he kind of wakes up when DH gets up for work (at 7) and then wants to be on top of my body pillow and in my arms for the next 3 hours...which wasn't an issue until I got this giant belly that he likes to try and crush in the process. Today we stayed in bed even longer because he asked to watch Star Wars when he got up and I happily agreed. lol It's definitely a trade off though. I often wish he would just go to bed on his own, or stay in bed a little after I get up just so I could do things I need him to not be around for. He won't nap without me, either, which is a good excuse to nap with him. Haha.

mojobot2000, I feel the same. Am also due on Jan 27th. There are times when I have energy and other times when I feel like just laying in bed. If I wake up during the night to pee, I often can't go back to sleep. That makes me feel even worse during the day. I made eggplant curry tonight for dinner. Some say the eggplant can help start labor. Let's see what happens.
