If you were a healthy weight before you got pregnant...

What has your postpartum weight loss pattern been?

I was 135 lbs before I got pregnant and I was 170 at the birth.

1 week pp- 160

2 weeks pp- 156

And I've been 156 ever since, I'm now almost 5 weeks pp and I haven't lost a single pound in 3 weeks.: I don't understand how this is possible when I'm breastfeeding CONSTANTLY and don't feel like I'm over eating at all. It's so frustrating!

I think it just takes time. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it definitely took longer than I thought it would with my 1st baby to lose the weight. I weighed 123 when I got pregnant with her and gained 29 lbs. I think I was about 10 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight the first time I weighed myself, and I don't think I started losing the weight until she was a few months old when I started doing elimination diets because of her food intolerances. Before the pregnancy I had trouble even keeping weight on, so it was unusual for me not to lose the weight right away.

This time I weighed 125 when I got pregnant and gained 23 lbs. I was about 10 lbs over pre-pregnancy weight at 1 week PP...although I don't know how I only lost 13 lbs after birth with a 7 lb baby and losing some water weight, placenta weight, etc. I've been about 5 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight since about 2 weeks PP (DS is 6.5 weeks old)

Anyhow, I think some people lose weight really easily when nursing, and others tend to hang on to extra weight when nursing. Maybe if you're a "normal weight" you're more likely to hang on to the extra weight because your body thinks you need the reserves?

I was overweight when I got pregnant, and the baby weight is gone. So maybe caedmyn is onto something.

With DD1, I was overweight, gained 30, and in the first week pp lost 35. With DD2, I started out 10 lbs over my previous starting weight, gained 31, and by the 2nd week pp lost 31. It took longer the second time, but I also had a lot of IV fluids that I didn't have the first time.

I'd like to lose more...I did at one point towards the time DD1 weaned. But 1500 calories a day and nursing was NOT fun and I'll not do that again. I'm only 2.5 weeks pp now so it's not like I can start working out---like I have time for that, anyway!

to the OP. I know that's frustrating. Hang in there!

PrePreg 135
DDay 171
Discharge 160
2 months PP 155
A constant battle for the next 16 months where I never got below 143.

PrePreg150
DDay 181
Discharge 170
Hopefully with working again I'll be able to stay active and loose the weight this time. I'm hoping.

With Evan I started out 125 lbs, went up to 190 lbs() and at 4 weeks PP I am about 150. I have not worked out or eaten right lol. I am partially nursing.

I just read today that your body will usually hang on to the last 7-10 lbs. for quite a while if you are breastfeeding. I got down to the last 7 lbs really fast (4 weeks maybe?) and then stopped. So I guess this explains it!

I started at 130, was 160 when I gave birth. A week later I was 140 and that's where I've been ever since. Which means I can't fit into many prepreg clothes but my maternity clothes are falling off :

I know! I just bought 2 pairs of jeans for $10 each at hm on clearance for this reason! Thank goodness my scrubs fit me though, no buying more of those!

It usually takes me about 9-12 months to take it all off. I haven't really paid attention this time but I think i have about 15lbs to go out of the 35 i gained

I'm in the same boat. I gained 35 to 40 lbs this time around. Without sharing the actual numbers... at the 2 weeks post mark I was down to about 16-18 lbs above my pre-preg weight. I thought, "great, I'm loosing weight!". Then I stopped. Havne't really lost anything since and I'm now 6 weeks post. I'm EBFing and not eating all that much honestly.

It's extremely frustrating. I have enough body image and weight issues as it is and this plateau is not making me feel so great about the way I look. I don't fit into ANY of my jeans, even my "fat pants" from times when I was at higher weights. I have 2 pairs of sweats that are decent enough to leave the house and thats it. I absolutly will not buy any new jeans that fit because I'm honestly too scared to find out what size I am. I feel very uncomfortable wandering around in the public eye.

After dd the weight came back down to my pre preg weight pretty quickly and with much less breastfeeding. By 2 months pp (2 weeks farther than I am now) I was only 2-4 lbs above my pre-preg weight. Not the case this time.

I was 145 before pregnancy, dropped to 130 in the 1st trimester (135 is actually my ideal weight), over 170 by the end...He's almost 6 weeks old and I'm 145. But 145 is NOT the same now as it was, I desperately need to lose some flab and put on some muscle. He likes walks out in the cold in the moby, but it's hard to get myself motivated.

None of my clothes fit at all, I'm still wearing maternity pants or PJs, and I went and bought bigger shirts the other day. My hips are so much bigger it's crazy, but I kind of expected this since I outgrew all of my pants months before I started showing.

I'm getting really p!$$ed that my pre-pg pants aren't anywhere NEAR fitting me, my biggest maternity pants fall off me, and my medium sized maternity pants are a little too snug I have a muffin top that floats there and you can see through my shirts. I'm starting to think that I may need to go a pair of jeans to wear until I start working out. GRRRR. But I guess I can save those for next time I get pg....hmmm. I'm also tired of my shirts not fitting over my huge cha cha's.

I am 7 lbs from pre-pg weight at 1 month pp, but normal clothes are not even close to fitting. I feel like the saggy baggy elephant. My tummy skin is just hanging there, loose and wrinkly. I just ordered some pants from Old Navy in a size bigger than I normally wear, hopefully they'll fit. (Extra 50% off clearance! I got pants for $8 a pair!) I'm hoping the weather will be warmer after I move in 2 wks so I can start walking.

I gained in the neighbourhood of 30 lbs, and was only up 4lbs at 9 days post partum. Now that my nuring appetite has arrived, I"m holding steady at about 5-6 lbs. above my pre-preg weight.

I was 155 pp
lost about 12 lbs at birth (I don't understand this as my dd was 10#5oz)
now, 7 months pp I at at 150
I have worked out alot, but have not really watched what I eat.

I would like to get down to 140 before next baby.

Yeah....should add that even though the WEIGHT is gone, the clothes still don't fit. <sigh>

I wish I had thought to weigh myself right after delivery, just because I'm really curious, not becaue I care about the weight itself. I was 125-130 pre-pregnancy, and went up to about 185lbs. I weighed myself today, at exactly 4 weeks pp - 154lbs. So, I guess I've lost about half of the weight. This strikes me as about right, because while I feel a lot smaller than I did in pregnancy, I feel a *lot* bigger than I used to pre-pregnancy. I figure it took 9 months to gain, so I'll give myself that long to loose it (though I do hope it will happen faster than that!). I'm pretty sure I'll hang on to an extra 10lbs until dd weans though as I'm not sure my pre-baby weight would support an ebf baby healthily.
