Oh dear.....I am soooooooooooo behind!!! I better catch up!!

Quote:
Measles component: Adults born before 1957 generally are considered immune to measles. Adults born during or after 1957 should receive 1 or more doses of MMR unless they have a medical contraindication, documentation of 1 or more doses, history of measles..., or laboratory evidence of immunity

I don't get this....Ok I was born in 1972 and have recived "one or more" doses of the MMR. So that means I don't need to run out and get one according to this. However. My MMR has long since worn off. Also when kids get their MMR now they are given a dose at 12-15 months and another before school 4-6 years because the first one would have worn off presumabley. So why is it that they don't recommended it for every adult who has not had one in the last 7-10 years???

Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for all adults in the following settings: STD treatment facilities; HIV testing and treatment facilities; facilities providing drug-abuse treatment and prevention services; health-care settings targeting services to injection-drug users or men who have sex with men..... and nonresidential daycare facilities for persons with developmental disabilities.
Whaaa??????
I work in a facility that offers treatment to most of the populations listed above. How am I at increased risk? (I am not a nurse, I do not give injections?) They are actually recommending I get vaccinated because I work with gay men?? Are you kidding me? Since I don't have sex with my clients or share utensils with them or swap body fluids of any kind, I don't see how this is of concern?? It doesn't even say nurses or medical personel that may actually be at an increased risk due to punture wounds or that come into contact with blood or semen, but all adults who work in this type of setting. Seriously please tell me how this makes any sense. I really want to know!

MMR doesn't seem to wear off. The second dose is because of the % of people in which the first dose doesn't work.

Well, I had my last MMR when I was a senior in high school 1994. From that I had a sore arm for over a month but of course I didn't know anything about vaccine reactions and neither did my Mom so when I kept complaining about it she blew it off and told me it would stop eventually. Of course it went un-reported: I was fully vaxed as a child.

My next vax after that was a Tetnus (Tetnus only I think) in 2001. About 6 months after my Tetnus shot I developed Eczema, seasonal allergies, Lykenplantis (in my mouth), blood in my urine, and Psyorsis. Still not knowing that vaccine reactions were possible so again not reported:

Then I had Elle and looked into vaccines and HOLY CRAP! Needless to say we don't vax at all.

But back to the MMR that I had in 1994. I am no longer immune: I read my file when I switched OB's early in this pregnancy and sure enough I am not immune to Rubella.

You will not find me running to get another vax EVER.

It's likely you were never immune. Many people seem to not get immunity from that vax.
