Good to see everyone! Nerdy's been missing for a while, hope everything is well.

I'm really close to be a non-breastfeeding mother. He's 2.5 months old, and I've pumped around the clock, and now my supply is seriously on the downhill side. We've gotten nearly every kind of support there is, and I've even gotten him to take parts of meals from the breast. But he can't take the whole meal and he makes hamburger of my nipples. Then pumping hurts forever afterwards. We've been to feeding clinic and switched around his bottles, and at least there haven't been any more screaming episodes (gas from the formula plus air from the bottles makes for one unhappy baby). He's on Alimentum due to a sensitivity, not a true milk allergy I don't think.

He's really an amazing baby, though. At 6 weeks adjusted, he's doing stuff that a normal 2 month old would do, cooing, and smiling, and trying to hold his head up. And he's such a big boy, 14 pounds on Wednesday!

I started back to school on Monday (thanks for the PM EMC, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you, life has been crazy). Thursday and Friday are 12 hour shifts at the hospital. Wow, that was intense.

DH and I have DTD a couple times. These nursing hormones keep it from being good.

We are using cloth diapers much of the time, DH doesn't like them much, so it's just me mostly. Although, I'm finding us sneaking more and more into sposies. I've been approved for Miracle Diapers, I need to work on my application stuff.

Hope everyone is doing well!

thanks jen, i'll check those out, they sound good if i can convince the hubby! he's already into me being pregnant again! haha, really i would be into DTD if i wasnt having fertile mucus and i know that it runs in the family to be VERY fertile for the first 4-6 months pp, even though we have no AF to show for it, go figure!

on PUL stink, thirsties wrap covers are just one layer of PUL, so they can go a few changes and i have yet to have any stink. they are the only ones i didnt throw away after a week. they also hold in the poo spolsions the best, so i would recommend them over sposies too, cuz there's nothing worse than poo all the way up to the neck! thats why i'm glad i have used cloth the whole time. i cant deal with those sposies not holding the poo in. my combo of prefolds, snappi and thirsties cover works perfect for our once a week mudslide. although it took some experimenting to get it worked out...and a few ruined shirts on my part!

Zoey has been fighting sleep lately, and it is soooo cute! i put her in the wrap and she does those half hearted yells trying to tell me she doesnt want to sleep as her eyelids get heavier and heavier and she rubs her face into my chest. i guess the world is an exciting place to a 10 week old, she doesnt want to miss anything!

i broke out my gypsy mama gauze wrap yesterday and i am really bummed, after washing it is SO rough and scratchy, i dont know what to do, there is no way i can wrap up dd in that. i have a moby, but dont feel comfortable doing a back carry with it because it stretches out so fast. i'm bummed out about it, its such a beautiful wrap and its just sitting there useless.

Hi, Mamas!

Well, LO will be 6 weeks on Tues. She's so sweet! She even lets me set her down and falls asleep on her own half the time. DS, not so much. I feel bad for the baby, though, because her 3yo big brother is definately the squeeky wheel. How do you find a balance? I'm trying to convince myself that if she's lying there happily, she's OK. But DS fully trained me to believe babies should not be laid down. I feel REALLY guilty. For paying attention to DS. For paying attention to DD. For being online.

Oddly, I don't feel remotely guilty about going back to work PT. I'm doing taxes again this year. But for a CPA instead of Jackson Hewwitt. Better hours, better $. And I'm not sitting across from the Walmart bathrooms all morning!

Well, we have DTD. And next morning? Fertile fluid. :: Please, please, please, no. I wasn't expecting this at 5.5 weeks! Maybe it means something different?

Baby cries....

I had some fertile fluid a couple of days ago. Now I'm bleeding again. So, at just 6 weeks or so, I would suspect it's still related to the lochia.

Hi ladies! DS was born Nov 25.
We are also experiencing the poo 'splosions every other day or so.
Nursing is going well most of the time, sometimes he screams at the boob or tries to eat and scream at the same time.
He's wearing 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes now.
We tried cloth diapers but everyone kept buying us 'sposies so we're using those up (we have over 300 size 1 diapers, I'm not sure we'll use all of them!). DS is up to 11 lbs 13 oz and 23 5/8 in long!
He's sick right now with something...he's got a runny nose, sneezing, coughing and crying. It makes me so sad.
Ok I've done it! I snappied a prefold under my wool cover...AND...no poo splosion! Yea : ! I'm sooo glad, now I can use those prefolds with confidence and they're soooo much cheaper than any other diaper system. Of course we'll still have some fitteds for DH...

I'm back at work and my evenings I teach yoga (one hour sessions) isn't bad. One night I take DD#2 because I'm gone longer and one night I leave her at home. Last week was the first time...I had just finished teaching and my cell phone rang...DH was on the other line and I couldn't hear him because both girls were crying in the background. All I could hear was "you need to come home now!" I guess DD#2 wouldn't take a bottle and was hungry...oy...
This Saturday I'm supposed to teach an 8 hour day of childbirth education (ends up being 10 with prep time) and I'm not sure how I'm going to manage with pumping and all. We usually don't break for longer than 10 minutes at a time and only 30 minutes for lunch...hmmm...I'm trying to get a sub, but I'm also considering just bringing K with me and slinging her.

I just bought one and I'm really struggling to learn how to wrap with it. I'm in love with the color and feel of it (gauze Morgaine), but I can't get it right. I'm fantastic with front carries with my Moby and Moby D, but I think I'm not ready for the woven yet. I'm selling one of my two Mobys to Helen and the other one is on DS and TBW so I can fund a GM Stretch since I think I'm doing better with the stretch. Any hints for me though? Anyway, I have heard that ironing the gauze takes the crunch out.

Hi all!

Jackie'sladybug, I'm with you on being terrified of being pregnant. Well, at least today I know I'm not because I fully got my period back today. LO is 2 1/2 months old. I went to try to get an IUD a week or so ago, but couldn't because of my irregular uterus. So I got on the minipill, which I hate because of the hormones but I'd much more hate to get pregnant again. I'm 99% sure I don't want anymore children, and if I were to get pregnant now it would be awful -- I cannot imagine -- but DH and I are wary about doing a vasectomy right away. I just feel like we need to wait a little while, even though we're feeling very "done" right now. We're only 32 -- I just have mixed feelings about getting permanently sterilized. Ugh... there's no goood answer to birth control for us!! And since I know I'm fertile (we HAVE been dtd and I have actually been wanting to, which is another sign, besides AF returning), I'm especially paranoid. Any thoughts? Sometimes I think, ack, we should just do the vasectomy and be done with it...

Evelyn is doing well, she's huge, and sleeps good at night but not during the day! She "talks" so much. She's so animated and interested and has a huge array of expressions. I think she's around 12 weeks?? Not sure!

Jen, brrrrrr... keep warm!

augs - NFP/FAM? We are super fertile people here and we feel very comfortable with it.

Nora's baptism was beautiful. No pics to post yet - hubby is hogging them - but it was perfect. We do immersion during Mass, and our priest calls up all of the children to witness. It's very loving and full of spirit to do it that way. Nora cried when Father took her out of the font at the end, but she was pleased when he held her up over his head to show her to the congregation. All of those faces smiling up at her! We had select family and friends to lunch at a local restaurant. 9 kids at the kids' table and 6 of them under 4! Oh and she smells soooooo good. It was a beautiful day!

And I can officially say that she did not poo-splode in the font. She was due for her weekly mudslide and perhaps it was the fact that she was sitting in holy water, but she didn't let go in the font or on the heirloom silk gown after. It was a definite fear and I didn't even want to think it!

On to my ILs. I think I mentioned that they regifted some presents to us for Nora's birth. Well, she got regifted another present for Christmas, but this one I can use! It's a very nice carseat toy that you mount to the seat so she has something to look at RFing. This doesn't mean I like them,of course.... Poor K got regifted two books he already has, and the dust covers are off so I can't return them and get him something else. Now I'll have to buy him something since MIL said that I could exchange them, not knowing BIL regifted. Argh, it would have been better with nothing at all.

I'm organizing my mom's club Mom2mom sale again this year, so I'm trying to get everything done in little spurts between kids needing me. It's exciting though!

Charlie has such a big waist, the infant prefolds dont' work with a snappi anymore, and the regular ones are still too big. I'm liking the fitteds, but they always leak onto the wrap. Ugh.

And, yeah, I think if I were you I'd sling the baby and bring her. It is a child prep class after all!

I had a tubal when Charlie was a day old. In some ways I regret it a little. Mostly, though, I feel relief. No more miscarriages (I've had 8). I can concentrate on my children and school (I have a year of school left). No worries about passing on Tony's cancer gene to another child (oldest DD has it, neither of the others do). But then, as you see, we have some unique issues that no one else does. When you fall upon the right solution, you'll know.

For us, NFP worked for 3 years, then we became parents again. But then I think Charlie was just meant to be!

Anyone else have a fussy nurser?
Thanks Augustine. We are hoping something happens SOON....it's getting sooo stressful and depressing here

And yes, Izzy is my fussiest nurser so far, she cries more than I'm used to,but even that is not SO bad, becaused it's not fair that I'm comparing her to my first 3 who were all super-easy babies and always content! So what seems fussy to me might be just basically normal I never had a baby that wouldn't just always instantly calm down, take the boob and be thrilled

I know, I know, I'm not thrilled about the soy either, but what can I do? If I can't have cow's milk, and Starbucks doesn't have goat's milk or rice milk or almond milk or any other option, and I'm dying for a latte...?! I try to avoid soy as much as I can other than that, though.

And I second the comments that you sound like an amazing mama!

LOL....I am *dying* to DTD - and no worries here because I don't get my cycle back for a very long time - but our form of "birth control" is currently living with my mother, all 6 of us in 1 bedroom We can barely have a conversation, let alone anything else - ugh!!

Anyway, we are NFP-only, but I've been fortunate in that so far, we've never even had to use that (to avoid I mean - we have used it to achieve pregnancy) because I have such a long period of lactational amenorrhea. It can work quite well though, if you're careful about it!

DD#2 is keeping me on my toes by being "soooo helpful" and asking a million questions a minute. woooo...I'm exhausted!

I'm so excited because for Christmas my mom promised me a new coat, I just had to find one I liked and she'd buy it for me. And, I found one I liked and it's a pregnancy/babywearing/regular mama coat. See here!
That is TOO CUTE about her covering her face....awwww! And very cute coat - I've never seen anything like that before!

Sorry if this is TMI, but could it maybe just be semen and not fertile fluid? Semen from intercourse can appear very similar to eggwhite CF - I have found it hard to distinguish "the morning after" at times when I've been charting.

CONGRATS Teff and Nora!!! Can't wait to see the baptism pics. It sounds wonderful. And I know what you mean...I love when they smell like chrism, I didn't want to bathe Izzy for days after her baptism!!

Well, nothing new here, just wanted to check in on you all!

Hey everyone! I hope you all are doing well!
We finally got everything submitted to the Japanese city hall today and found out that they have to have a court hearing about it. So, sometime within the next month I have to appear in Japanese court to explain why I didn't have the birth certificate done before she was 2 weeks old.
DH is due to leave on the 30th (we are hoping they don't move it sooner, he doesn't want to miss DD1s birthday). Hes going to Tailand for a month, it will be his first time away since the baby was born.
ETA DH just told me he has to be on the ship on the 28th or 29th so he will miss DD's second birthday.. Im sad for him and he is really upset about it. Please reassure me that she won't remember this so it doesn't really matter (to her at least). DH loves being a Marine but its hard on him to miss the big things (he was gone for her crawling, first tooth, first step, first holiday etc so hes missed a lot already)

We haven't DTD yet either. We were both ready to go last night, but Nora refused to let us put her down until we both were exhausted. Frustrating!

Nora has gotten to the point where she needs both sides a couple of times a day. This is a big deal for us because my oversupply with K was so huge that he was 9 months old and 18 pounds before he could handle both sides. It shows that I am making a reasonable amount of milk, which hopefully translates to no plugged ducts for us.

Also, K is in Elizabeth Pantley's newest book! Here's the picture: it's on page 11. The book is The No Cry Nap Solution, and he's asleep in his stroller in the middle of a horse show! I'm guessing I need to read the book anyway since Nora is napping like 6 times a day for 30-40 minutes regardless of whether I wear her, put her in the swing, nap nurse, whatever.

Has anyone here tried Zwaggle yet?

Congrats on getting into the book! My DD is 10 weeks now and she is not on a good nap schedule yet either. It is partly my fault because I haven't concentrated on a set schedule yet, even though we do have a routine. But mostly it is because whenever I get her to sleep where I can lay her down, my DS will come running in and yell something or bang into something and then she wakes up. Or if not that, then my dogs will bark and wake her up. So I usually end up wearing her in the sling around the house and she will sleep for a couple hours then. I don't usually mind, and can still get some things done, but I would love to be hands-free and have some time to myself when she's napping every once in a while.

What is zwaggle?

Hey guys...nerdymom here. Letting you all know that I am actually NOT naking! I'm crossing my fingers and praying Pj doesn't wake up. Thanks for askin' bout me.

I've enjoyed reading about everyone, diaperbags, wraps and all the good baby talk.

I have been going through some stuff here. Mama + baby = happy, but mama sans baby, well, not so hot. I've pretty much been watching BBCA and Food Network round the clock, when I'm not sleeping or cooking. I took over cooking duties for the family (remember I live with my parents and two teen sisters) in an attempt to give my day some structure and purpose. I enjoy cooking a lot, and my family appreciates it. But I am just having problems with my emotions. I feel totally out of whack. I've been on MDC a bit, but just haven't posted. Nothing much to report, besides Pj's stats. Went for 2 month checkup today. 15lbs 15oz, 26 3/4 inches. Big surprise, since he eats sooo much. The highlight (s) of my day are breastfeeding him.

my little girl now weighs a whopping 14 lbs!!! at 11 weeks when she was 6lbs 6oz at birth! i dont know how that happened!

she is outgrowing the yellow edge prefolds, after only having them for 2 weeks. sigh. i have been giving her a lot of nakey time because she seems so much happier without her diaper on. its the only way i can get her to lay on her tummy for any length of time.

i got a car finally! really excited about that and its been about 90 degrees here for the last few days since the santa annas blew in so we have been going to the beach to hang out!

hope everyone is doing well, i feel good, still have about 15 lbs to lose but my mom gave me some of her pants since she wears the size i am now so i didnt have to buy any clothes!

gotta go, baby calls, sorry couldnt read over for mistakes:
we are growing a baby fast here too. tall and chubby with a little head. she is 15 percentile for head....

i am having a tough time losing the weight. yes, i am bfing. the loss is slow going.
anybody got a good secret?

until soon again, typing one handed, nursing with the other
post #39 of 114
Glad to see you Nerdy. The emotions will ease up. Can you get out and get some exercise? Put PJ in a wrap or sling and walk the mall or a rec center? Exercise does help with hormones.

We took K and Nora to the circus on Saturday with K's best buddy and his mom and grandma. K loved it! The funny part was that he had no interest in the horses because we have one! He loved the motorcycles and acrobats, and of course, the elephants. He was glad to be out with his best buddy too! Nora actually stayed awake and watched it when she wasn't face-down in the boob or in the Moby D.

I ran into one of my favorite former students in the mall yesterday. He's one year away from graduation, and he was in my last senior class! Gah, I'm getting old!

Here you all are!!! Jeez, its like no man's land in the DDC!!

Anyways, Spencer's 12 weeks now, and almost 15 pounds!! He's in 6-9 month clothing and is soooooooooo long!! We jsut switched peds because he ped RETRACTED his foreskin without asking my permission while I was tending to my toddler who had just dropped a box of crayons He's healing ok, we are going to our new, crunchy, ped today to get it looked at and make sure its healing ok because I'm worried its not.

Still having a rough time adjusting to having two. DD1 is such a high needs child still, and its been a rough transition for her. Our relationship has changed so much and sometimes I feel somedays that the entire day has gone by and she hasn't gotten even a minute of my undivided attention

After reading some of your posts, it got me thinking about nap schedules and such. Are babies this young supposed to be napping at and for predictable times? I'm AP and follow his cues, whenever he sleepy he goes in the wrap, sometimes he sleeps for 30 minutes and sometimes for 2 hours. If I lay him down and nurse him to sleep and sneak away, its guaranteed to be only 30 minutes, so thats why I use the wrap. I sometimes refer to Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child, and he says that at this age, nap times and nap length is still unpredictible because he system is still too immature for that yet. The morning nap usually appears around 4 months on a consistent basis. Anyways, he never stays up longer than 1hr 45 min and sometimes can't even stay up for an hour before needing a nap. Sorry for the rambling!!

As for diaper bag recs...I am a bag whore! I love em then leave em! Except I may have finally found one that is just perfect for me! I got it online from BRU its called a BabyMel Amanda, and it just rocks! Check it out, they are just the perfect diaper bag for us!!

Still battling yeast here (going on 2.5 months) and Spencer has a rash (not a yeast rash) around his anus for the same amount of time. When we go to the ped today, I hoping he can shed some light on that rash. I'm praying its not an allergy:

Still have not DTD, but it took 10 weeks for my nether regions to be completely healed (I had a granuloma that had to be silver nitrated off twice!!), so I am soooooooo not interested. Plus I am battling ppd so that really brings my sex drive to 0. Oh well, I usually have the sex drive of a rock anyways, so poor dh isn't too surprised

Sorry for the book, I don't get to post much, so I figured I throw it all out there while I had the time!

OH, and my sanity saver has been my hour every night that i get to spend time with my fictional boyfriend Edward while reading Twilight
