Acne facial care?

Hi ladies,
My DD is hitting puberty, and her poor face is spotty. She has very sensitive skin - I have always had to be careful with her hygiene products or she gets rashes.

So I am looking for advice on what skin care products might be helpful for her to treat her acne. I (thankfully) never really dealt with it, and I try to keep my kids using natural products, so I am not sure where to start. Just standing in the facial care products aisle is not helping me! Anything I can get thru Frontier is a bonus, since I have access to monthly co-ops locally.

Any BTDT advice? Thanks much! :

Somewhere there is a wash your face with honey thread, worth checking out.
It was there that I found the honey and aspirin mask that is helpful for my hormonal acne, also the scars.

Honey! Yes. Somewhere there is a thread about that, but it is definitely worth a first try, IMO. I have suffered from moderate acne since my early teens and honey is the only thing that has ever worked for me. I wish I had known that back when I was in HS. It would have saved me a lot of money and heartache. I use local honey and I wash twice daily with it. I use it straight out of the jar just like you would use soap. I have found an incredible olive oil, honey and propolis based moisturizer that works wonders. It is called Egyptian Magic. You can find it here...http://www.building-health.com/egypt...ream-p-25.html
It is a bit spendy, but it lasts a long time. A little goes a long way. I use just those two things and my skin is perfectly clear, acne free for the first time in my life. I hope you can find something that will work for your daughter.

I had bad acne through youth and into adulthood. What works best for my skin is olive oil soap. I'm a fan of Kiss My Face soap! They have a variety of soaps, some with tea tree, some with honey, etc. A $3 bar lasts me for months!

Thanks - these are all great ideas. I appreciate hearing what has really worked for others. I do have a nice big jar of local honey here. I don't even mind spendy so long as it is something that helps, and is natural - I didn't want her using Clearasil, y'know?

Feel free to add if anyone has other suggestions!

I use honey on myself. My dd is 10 & though she doesn't really have acne yet she has had some blocked bores. She uses witch hazel.

I had hormonal breakouts most of my life. Just a month ago, my Ayurveda practitioner suggested I spritz rosewater on my face every day. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! That is the only change I have made to my facial routine. I still use the same cleanser, toner, and facial moisturizer with SPF (all Jason) that I have been using since early Fall. I simply spritz the rosewater over my face either in the morning (after regular skincare regimen) or before bed...and sometimes I manage to do it both times of the day.

My face (especially my chin and jawline) is so much clearer! I didn't even have a breakout with my last menstrual cycle, which is amazing.

I will also say I am doing energy work and have been doing a lot of clearing of old patterns of illness through a variety of modalities. The rosewater IS amazing for me AND I am actively working to be healthy overall. "My skin is clear and healthy," is one of my mantras. Another one is, "My body restores itself to its natural state of health." These are more recent than the rosewater, for what it is worth.

Best wishes in finding what works for your DD!

did you find the wash your face with honey thread because it's AWESOME.

it's 35 pages long though, so beware...it's addicting to read!!!!

I don't have bad acne but I do have blackheads on my chin that NOTHING seems to work for and I have a patch on my cheek that is very prone to breakouts of small pimples...well yesterday I tried the honey and OMG so many of my blackheads are gone and i can tell that the other ones, as well as the pimples on my cheek, are being drawn to the surface.

Here's what i did in case you don't have time to read many of the posts. I mixed up a paste of a bit of raw honey and baking soda. The baking soda cut the stickiness (and deterred me from eating it and violating my "no sugar" new years resolution.) I slathered it on my face and rubbed in circles (gently) with my finger tips. I thought it felt good so I decided to leave it on for a while (like a mask) but you could just wash it off right away.

After a while I washed it off gently with a wash cloth and WOW my skin looked and felt great. I used a tiny bit of coconut oil for moisturizer. I did learn from the thread that if you use a lot of baking soda it's important to use a toner to reset your skin's pH level....but if you just put a little BS in then you probably don't need the toner.

My friend's son has AWFUL skin and I can't wait to tell them about this!!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences!
(I had a giggle at adding BS so you don't eat it! )
I love these ideas, and when I can find the time I will read that thread - thanks for linking it!
I feel like I am learning so much - thanks, ladies!

Adolescent Acne Cause

The cause of adolescent acne is in most all cases due to them being low on zinc. Because of the changes in their bodies they require a lot more zinc than usually and typically use it all up in their bodies and run low. I have a friend who researched the best kind of minerals to use and found this company. http://www.123remedies.com/ They designed their product so the minerals are small enough to actually be absorbed on a cellular level. (Unlike most all of the others on the market that just pass 80% of it through your system without being absorbed.) Her son used their zinc (I think 1tbs a day...held it under his tongue for a short bit then swallowed) and his face totally cleared up. If they ever forgot it on a trip he would break out again but as soon as he began taking it again he would clear right back up.

Just a reminder...adult acne doesn't have the same cause as adolescent acne for those of you adults reading this.
