Podcasts?

Thread Starter
I just got a really cool phone and I'd like to download some podcasts that I can listen to in the car, while lo listens to his music together (that is about to drive me insane.) Can anyone recommend a few sites that have some interesting podcasts, music or even books that I can download? TIA!

I like This American Life. They have a new topic each week, like: Fear of Sleep, Prom, Switched at Birth, Leaving the Fold... The podcasts are about an hour long and they have several people come on and tell their stories related to that topic. I have subscribed to a lot of podcasts in the past, but this is the only one that I keep coming back to. I get it from iTunes and it's free.

That's awesome, I didn't know it was free now! It used to only be available at Audible.com, and you had to have a subscription. Yay, free!!! :

Yeah, the back episodes are $2 each on iTunes, but if you subscribe to the podcast, you get each new episode for free. I went to Audible.com and it looks like they are charging $1 per episode and I don't see anywhere to subscribe. From my experience with iTunes, any podcast I have subscribed to has been free.

My sister got me on to RadioLab. It's a fantastic science programme -- funny and interesting, with the most incredible guests wandering in and out of the studio.

: Subbing. I was just talking about this with hubby the other day. I'd love to get into some podcasts, but I just don't know what's out there....

Subbing. I'm kind of a dummy when it comes to downloading things. I enjoy listening to Ring of Fire and Car Talk, but would love to hear other ideas, since NPR sounds like crap on my car radio, I better just use my ipod.

I don't know what kind of stuff you are interested in. I am listening to A Body of Truth from Catholic Radio International which is available from iTunes or their website and the Royal Opera House podcast also on iTunes.

I'm listening to The Story and The Splendid Table from American Public Media, both free, and also learning Spanish with Coffee Break Spanish. There is all kinds of cool stuff out there!

Wait wait don't tell me. I listen to it on my ipod while I take the kids for walks and I just laugh out loud. I also love the Savage Love podcast. I like it a lot more than the column.

I also like Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippett. She does interviews with people of all sorts of faith systems.

I had subbed to this thread because I was looking for stuff to listen to at the gym, and I just found this:
http://podcast.com
There's tons of stuff there, all free (whoo hoo!)
