My "Little Man" is so smart...

After 2 days of no pooping and only 2 very small pees a day, I tearily decided to make a bottle of formula. Jonathan's bilirubin levels were 23.5 on Wed. They hospitalized DD1 at that point. I wanted to handle the jaundice at home. Jonathan has been eating well, been very active, awake & alert.

He wouldn't take the bottle!! He HATED the taste of the formula - but knowing he wasn't peeing & pooping and he was so yellow! I had to do something & I figured it was my low milk supply causing problems again.

This morning he filled a diaper with pee and then another with poopy!! YAY! ( I know - it is amazing what makes us moms happy!! LOL). :

He knew better than to take that bottle I guess . He's doing better already. He never had any formula (well not more than a few drops). I'm so proud of him. He also let me sleep 5 hrs last night! I think he was a extra cozy in his new fleece sleeper, but that's ok. Mama needed it!

Ok - off to find some food for myself now that his belly is full again. I just had to share - he continues to surprise me!

I know how you feel and I think it's awesome that he knew what he needed and was able to show you tha he's OK!

That's wonderful! We had jaundice concerns too, and I know how great it feels to take care of it without formula. Keller's levels were not that high, but it still took a lot longer than I expected for the yellowness to go away. The pediatrician was not concerned because he was peeing, pooping, and nursing fine. I hope Jonathan continues to improve!

Yay! I remember those first few days with jaundice and every poop was a rejoicing opportunity.

Update...

I took Jonathan to the dr who said that Jonathan gained 10 oz within the first week (yes I'm a little behind on posting this haha!). I've NEVER had one of my children gain weight or make it to 2 weeks just EBF-ing!! :

He's doing so well that he doesn't have to go back for a 1 month check up, just the 2 mos. I can't believe we're finally doing so well. He still is jaundiced - still has blood in his eyes actually, but it's almost gone now. Hopefully by the end of this week - - which is what I told MW & the pediatrician. I never took him back in to have his bili-levels rechecked as I didn't want anyone to tell me that we had to supplement (not that he would have taken it - he still won't take anything but mommy! . I knew we could handle it at home - and we did.

Anyway - since it's just me & the kids still, I needed to boast a bit. I have my whole family around, but we don't speak much, so it's nice to be able to post something I'm proud of here and actually hear supportive comments/feedback! I am so happy I found MDC.
