Just wondering if anyone else knits. I'm already thinking about all the sweet little things I'm going to make over the next 8 months.

I'm super excited to start on some new baby stuff once I finish the washclothes I have been making as late-christmas gifts.

Have you checked out this baby heirlooms knitting book by melanie fallick? It's got some really cute baby patterns.

Knitter here! I've got quite a few baby things in my Ravelry queue--a couple sweaters/jackets, bootees, a hat, and just finished a hat a couple days ago.

I'm a recent knitter. I'm excited about the potential projects I can choose from for this baby. It will give me LOTS of practice.

I started about 6 months ago, I just find projects and work on from there. Every new project gets a little bit more complicated.

I would love to learn! Once upon a time I knit a pair of mittens to receive a badge in brownies but that was VERY long time ago!! How did most of you learn to knit? Any recommendations on how to get started?

That.

I *will* learn to sew before the babe shows up. I have big plans for making my own dipes.

Another knitter

I just finished a romper from The Expectant Knitter by Marie Connelly. It uses bulky yarn and larger needles so it knitted up very quickly. I modified the pattern by adding buttons around the legs to make changing diapers a little easier. There are a few other patterns in the book I'd like to try, too.

For new knitters, I always thought the instructions in Stitch 'n Bitch by Debbie Stroller were really good.

Yes, I'm a knitter! I've been knitting almost a year now, and have almost exclusively been doing baby things, as my sister and one of my good friends are pregnant (and due soon). I've loved making all the adorable hats, sweaters, booties, etc.

I really want to start making things for my baby, but don't want to jinx it, so I think I'll wait a while for that. I did just order a bunch of wool from Knitpicks.com though, to make some beautiful things (kimono sweater, double breasted jacket and a zipped sweater) for one of the babies about to enter my life.

For those mamas who want to learn to knit, I have found the videos on knittinghelp.com very helpful. Although I think it would be best to start by having someone show you the basics and then watching those videos. I know local yarn stores often offer lessons, or sometimes libraries or places like Michael's do too.

Oh, and octobermoon, if you're looking for patterns, ravelry.com has hundreds of patterns, and you can sort them by difficulty. I absolutely LOVE that site.

Yes. I knit several soakers for DD & have since done mostly small projects. Currently, I'm working on a soaker for a babe due this month. I feel that odd fear of jinxing things too & may wait for a while before I begin things for this babe. I'd like to have a stash of diapers, soakers & some clothing ready to go, so I probably shouldn't wait too long....

Oooh cool, so many knitters, new knitters, crocheters, and "wannabees" (hehe!). I should have said knitters and crocheters - didn't mean to exclude anyone. I would love to keep up with what everyone is making. Talking about knitting is almost as fun as knitting itself.

Right now I'm working on a pair of socks for myself, but it looks like they are going to take eons to finish! Next I'll make some slippers that DS wants, and then may venture into baby knitting!

I'm also hoping to sew some cute stuff, and hopefully some diapers (but I said that last time and I still have the fabric, lol)

I'm still working on those washcloths. One should really take a day, for me one can take up to a week with what time I have!

After this I'm going to start a pair of booties and a hat for my friend's baby.
