only 1 mulitple birth Mama so far? - Page 2

Heh, I'm pretty sure theres only one in there atm... though I do feel like I'm 'bigger' than I was last time. But still basicly no morning sickness other thans ome naseua early on...

I would *love* to have twins though. I think. And, actually talking to DH's family there IS a history of twins in his family!! And even triplets!! :boggle: But yeah, I'm assuming just one, though since we haven't heard the heart beat (too early last time) or had an ultrasound yet of any sort... it could be!!

We have a history of twins and triplets in both our families, but there is only one peanut on board. I would love to have twins next time, especially since I will be in my mid-thirties when we have another baby. That's the greatest two-for-one deal ever!!!

my dh also has a history of twins on his side, but apparently that doesn't make any difference if we will have twins (boo!). identical (mz) twins are random occurrence, and fraternal (dz) are familial on the mother's side (because she ovulates two eggs at once)

We're having twins! We foudn out last Thursday, via u/s. It was a shock, our first doc appt, and since we were so "late" getting in (I'll never understand the need to start seeing the woman RIGHT NOW... especially when it's not her first pregnancy!!), she wanted to do an u/s right away. I had actually sent DH and the kids out, b/c it was a vaginal u/s, but she turned on the machine and said I should probably call DH back in. At which time I slightly freaked, thinking she saw empty sacks or something, but she said there were two, and turned the moniter to show me, and there they were, kickin and playin away!! I had TOLD DH that this pregnancy was just wierd, and that I was showing WAY too early, and couldn't figure out why, so it was GREAT to finally ahve a reason. I'm hyperthyroid, so the two risk me out of a hb, and there are NO birth centers ANYWHERE nearby here, but I've been assured teh hospital is VERY NCB friendly.

And I can feel the PP who mentioned the financial issue: Our van won't carry two more, we don't have enough seatbelts, so we were already freaking on Thursday night about getting a new one, then it died on Friday, DH is seeing if he can fix it. And our house is WAY too small... and there's just a MILLION things that need done. I had to back out of my brother's wedding in Jamacia and let my FSIL down (I was her last attendant who was going, her MOH), because we simply can't afford to take all of us. (Not that I'd want to be oan a cruise 20 weeks preg with twins, anyway, but still, I felt bad. My mom had pretty much paid for the cruise, but we had to get our family of 5 there, plus excursions, and spending money, it was still a mint.)

Anyway, it's great to be here!

Wow, congrats kchara! What a surprise, huh? Your dh must have been freaking out looking at that screen - I know mine would have been!

We're both due on the same day!

We confirmed twins at an early ultrasound (6.5 weeks) on Monday this week, but we're cautiously optimistic about getting to hold them both come August. One of the babies has a weird looking sac that's smaller and compressed, but does have a fetal pole. The doctor was very dismissive of the second baby, pretty much declaring him/her dead, and didn't even measure the fetal pole or look for a heartbeat. I think they implanted 7 days apart based on my feelings during the luteal phase, and that's why one is so much smaller. We'll go in for another ultrasound hopefully on Friday if I can get the darn thing scheduled.

It's definitely an emotional roller coaster right now, but I would absolutely be overjoyed to have them both hang in there and join our family. Only time will tell.
