My head looks like the victim of an oil spill!!! HELP

Hi Mamas,

I tried a coconut oil and lemon juice conditioning treatment for my scalp this morning. Well, my scalp is definitely not dry but I goofed up and put the mixture all over my hair and I am now thinking that I should have used it much much much more sparingly...Seriously if my head were shaped like a frying pan someone would probably be trying to fry some bacon up in it!

Any tips on how to get all the oil out...I'm new to "no poo" and don't want to have to put shampoo on it...but I HAVE to do something!!!!

Please help me!!!

hmm i was going to suggest washing it again with shampoo. i use coconut oil too and if i don't wash it out it stays pretty oily looking (like i didn't take a shower in the first place). maybe try no pooing i again? letting your hair get really really rinsed out? i think over a few days it would naturally get better and your hair would probably love it....

What do you use to wash you hair? Do it a couple times in a row and it should make it better for sure. Maybe pick up a bottle or organic natural shampoo, you can save it for the occasional clarifying later.

Since January 1st I've just been using BS and water (mixed into a bit of a paste for my scalp and then dilute the leftovers and pour over my hair) and then rinsing thoroughly with water and then a rinse of ACV diluted with water.

I looked on the long hair community website and saw that some people there use diluted conditioner to rinse out oils...well, i tried that last night and it's definitely better so I'm thinking if I use my BS and ACV today I should be on the right track...and I read that if the coconut oil sits on the hair for a while it really soaks in and gets sealed in, so if I do have to resort to shampoo at least it won't totally undo the whole effect of the coconut oil.

hope your hair is better by now. i've been no-pooing myself except i've been doing an egg and acv diluted rinse (also coconut oil as a conditioner) and i find that really helps the grease factor. not sure if the egg helps with grease but i do know that the acv cuts into the grease.so if you still need less greasiness i'd try either a stronger acv rinse or doing several rinses.

IMO oil treatments are more than what no-poo is designed to deal with -- you really do need shampoo.

You can try baking soda -- applied liberally it MAY work -- but honestly I would just go with shampoo.

My hair is much better now! I just did a couple baking soda paste applications and ACV rinses and all is well...and my hair seems softer and shinier..:

I just got a jar of coconut oil and would like to give it a try. I also no poo with bs and acv. How long did you leave the coconut oil in? Did you heat it up to liquify it first or did you apply it as a solit? Thanks for the advice!

The heat of your hands will liquify it, no heating required
