Blog Readers - how many posts per page?

Question for you: as you are reading a blog, how many posts do you like to see per page? Do you want just the last two or three with a link to see the older stuff, or do you want the last ten or more?

I'm torn on this - as a reader, I like to see what people have been up to, because sometimes it takes me a couple days to see a blog. So I want to see more than just a few posts. OTOH, as a publishers, I HATE having so many posts cluttering up otherwise useful space.

WDYT - both as a reader and publisher?

I like all posts in plain view. I don't like when I have to click on links to finish reading a post. In many cases, I simply don't bother. But if the entire post is there, I might keep on reading.

For myself as a reader, it depends on the length of the posts. If they are lengthy, I prefer to see 1, maybe 2, on a page. If they are shorter, I'd want more.

I prefer to have as much reading material on one page as possible. It keeps my attention.

some web pages can be annoyingly long

so I try to have only 3 posts. i have a past articles section that people can check out & i figure if people like my content enough, they will check some of them out eventually. Just for SEO rankings, I've heard experienced bloggers say that it's good for your ranking if people are clicking links to get to other pages on your site. I think this is probably for the same reason that people linking to your blog boosts rank: the search engines see your blog as more relevant the longer people stay within it & utilize different pages of it. So, for that reason, it's good to consider an archives section.

Well, my posts tend to be slightly longwinded, so i'm thinking i will keep two or three posts per page. I have a new 4 column template so it kind of stretches my posts so they look longer than they are, and if it wasn't such a cool template, i'd change it entirely just because of that. I have 20 followers and 60 some subscribers and no one has ever complained when I had 10 per page, but then, no one ever clicked links to make mama some money. so, hopefully this won't bomb.

I use three on both my craft/home/gardening blog and my motherhood/writing/political blog. I am longwinded and this keeps it from being too much. Personally, it drives me nuts to read one entry and then have to hit the "older posts" button, especially if the post I'm reading is short. (But I think this is because I'm lazy! )

I use Google Reader for my subscribed blogs and then when I want to comment, it takes me directly to the blog post so page length doesn't come into play.

If I'm visiting a blog for the first time, I prefer to see a paragraph or two and then a -more- link (or something similar) to finish reading. If it is super interesting, I'll continue -if not I've got another subject waiting. I'd say 10 or so posts per page is what I prefer when using the more.

I can't remember what I have it set to, but right now I have 7 posts on the front page and that goes back a week. I use a label cloug in the right column so that it is easy to find things you are looking for or you can click back.

As a reader I don't mind clicking for more posts, but i don't like it when I have to click to read more of the same post. There are always exceptions, but for the most part that's what i like.

I'm just the opposite--I hate having to click on another link just to finish reading. It's better when it isn't automatic, so it will break naturally between paragraphs or whatever, but I'd still rather have the whole thing just on one page.

As for total posts to a page ... the more the merrier for me. If I'm new to a blog and would like to read back, I much prefer to read quite a few posts before getting to the bottom of the page.

I like 3 posts per page...and I really DO NOT like having one post broken up over multiple pages (though I know they do this to get more adwords page impressions...so its not going to stop any time soon)
