names once liked--then changed

I'm waffling on what once was a clear yes for a name choice for this not-yet-born babe, which has me curious to ask this. Tell me about your experience with names you loved at one point in this pregnancy, but then changed your mindd about--either because you had your babe and it didn't seem to fit, or becuase of partner disagreement, or a different association with that name or....?

Anyone want to indulge my curiouslity by sharing?

Oh, and in case anyone's wondering, the name I'm thinking of in my experience here is Eli. I really do like the name, but have it now associated with a certain person, and, therfore, personality, and have since waffled on it--yep, ten days til my "due" date and I feel as far away from a clear name as ever.

We've had a girl's name in mind since the conception of our DS1 who is now 4 yrs old. It would have been the name for DS1 or DS2 if either of them had been girls. It certainly has been a contender, but number 2 name for this baby who IS supposed to be a girl.

The name we like but still probably won't use is Jenna Elaine. I like it but read something about it being as plain as Jennifer now. And crazy as it may sound, I happened to look at some numerology site and didn't like the things it said about how the personality of this baby would be with that name. If I really liked the name the best--I would still use it. It's just one more factor in why it's not my favorite anymore. I'm still keeping it in mind if there is a next baby girl.

You never know, I might see this baby and decide she IS a Jenna afterall. (That's what happened with DS2--changed our mind to our third choice because it seemed to suit him best.)

This babe's name had been hard to come up with since the beginning. We didn't even really have any names in the running until much later it the pregnancy.

Names we liked but were unsure of:
Liesl
Piper
Pippa
Jolie (carried over from child #3 who ended up being a boy)
Savannah
Finnley (this was front runner)
Ruby

At the hospital we decided that none of these fit our LO and ditched them all.

Hubby made a list at the hospital of names he liked and on that list was the name Hanna but after I had semi agreed to that name, I realized it said ANNA in it and that is my MIL's name and there was NO WAY I wanted her to think we named her after her so I said HELL NO

As far as you not having a name yet...don't worry, you'll come up with one!! We filled out DD's birth certificate info 2 minutes before we left the hospital! LOL

We thought about Marguarite (pronounced Mar-ga-reet) for a while, nn Maggie. That was dh's late grammie's name, but decided it was a little too much with our last name, which is kind of a mouthful.
Our current name (has been for a long time now) is Isla (pronounced Eye-la) and we absolutely love it, but are getting a bit of flack b/c people don't know how to pronounce it. The name is supposed to be a secret, but I'm pretty sure my mom knows it's the one we chose and my grandmother said the other day, "how's baby Ilsa (Ill-sa)" so she found another complete way of screwing it up that we hadn't even thought of! UGH. I think we are just going to stick with it anyway. Screw everyone!
