Do you have postpartum check ups for you scheduled?

Just wondering...

I have one scheduled for next week (2 weeks pp), but I really don't want to go. I'll have to take both kids with me, and the clinic often runs an hour or two late, which means 1-3 hours at the clinic with a newborn and 3 year old. They will only schedule pp appointments at 11:45 , so I can't get anyone to help, like I could if it was in the morning.

What are you doing? I'm considering just doing a 6 week visit, since it's such a PITA.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as 2 week PP visits. I've always heard of 6 weeks. I'll be going at 6 weeks.

My MW did her usual 24 hour (well, mine was more like a 36 hour), 3 day, 7 day and 10 day post partum visits, but I do have a 6 week visit scheduled with her later this month. I also have a 6 week visit scheduled with the OB (wel, it's more like a 7 week visit) that I don't really need to do, but I am having some issues so I'm going to go to an appointment with him as well as my midwife.

My mw came out to my house at 2 days pp. Then I had a 2week visit, I love my mw's office, it has a nice comfy couch in the waiting area, toys for kids, a tv with movies...we could hang out there for awhile! Then I have a 4 week and a 6 week. I'm ok with these because I definitely need the practice of getting 2 youngens out of the house! Plus it's in the city 45 min away so I can go to my favorite co-op and also the children's museum.

My MW came for the 24 hour appt and did a phone call for day 3 (it was christmas and we were fine and didn't need a visit).

She comes to my home each and every time (I : my MW!!) and came at 1 week and 2 weeks. I will see her again at my home for the last time at 6 weeks. She comes at 8pm and all my other kids are in bed and it's nice and calm and peaceful when she visits. We chat and hang out..I am really going to miss that!

I don't have a PP checkup scheduled...I don't really feel I need one. We've DTD, everything felt fine, I'm not bleeding, tiny stitches are WAY gone and I can't feel the tear. After 40 weeks of going to the MW, I don't want to see another medical person. : DH is a nurse...he thought I healed...so I will take that as I'm good. lol

My neighbor watched DD1 during the 2 wk PP visit...we had the first one of the day at 8:30. They want me back at 4 wks; so I scheduled that for when DD1 will be in preschool. Probably will do the same for 6 wks.

11:45? Don't they want to take a lunch break? If they're running 1-2 hours late they won't get any lunch! I would be tempted to take my three y.o. (DD1 is 3) and let her be as annoying as possible. But then, DH went with me to the early prenatals (before we moved and transferred care to MWs) and he got really annoyed with the waiting too.

Maybe you could make a lunch date for your 3 y.o. with one of his/her friends? With a promise to friend's mom to reciprocate, of course.

I had a check-up at 2 weeks but it was just to look at my c-section scar. I just had my six week one, but it was basically to talk about my blood pressure issues.

I decided to skip the two week visit and just schedule the six week visit. I feel fine, my tear seems to be healing fine, and after going two weeks postdates, I'm really tired of being examined and poked and prodded at.

Is it bad to not go at all? I'm fine, all healed. Bad judgement call on my part? I'm changing OB/GYN's so I may call and make an appt for a couple months from now.

Honestly, I think you probably know your own body just fine. If you feel good and are healed, I wouldn't worry about it.

I see the MW at 6 weeks. I'm sure that I healed okay, but they always to a pap test and Sophie has a 6 week appointment at the same time anyway.

I'm going in for a 6 week appt next week. That's the only PP checkup I'm going to. I'm pretty sure everything has healed just fine. I want to discuss birth control though. My 3yo and newborn will have to go with me.

I need to schedule mine. I move next Saturday, so if I'm going to have one with my OB it needs to be before then. I just keep putting it off because I don't want to go. At the same time, I really love my OB and would like to say goodbye to him.
