my bf baby hasnt pooped in over 24 hours...is she not getting enough? she only nurses for a few minuets but I have a very forceful letdown and can pump 5 oz in about two minuets. Should I be worried? She is still peeing...

It isnt unusual for bfed babies to go from pooping very often to skipping days depending on the age of the baby.

Try some leg exercises with her like she is running then move then up to her chest a few times sometimes that will help move things along.

It is very, very unusual for a EBF baby to become constipated. Has your baby had any supplements, vitamins, formula, or solids? If the answer is no, then it is extremely unlikely that she is constipated. BM actually has a laxative effect on most babies.

How many wet diapers are you getting in 24 hrs? Is it at least 5-6? If you are having 5-6 wet dipes, then baby is getting enough to eat.

If you're worried, call your ped. But if your LO doesn't seem uncomfortable, I'd give it a little more time (maybe 12-24 hrs).

I personally wouldn't worry until hitting over a week on this one, due to bb's age, being ebf, I just attended a seminar about infrequent bowel movements (but it sounded alot nicer in french!!lol) this is perfectly normal, if she is still peeing the due amount of nappies then the liquid in take is ok, just make sure she's not really straining very hard to evacuate - the poops shouldn't be like dried raisins (when she eventually poops) but still fairly loose but boy when they come they can come indeed and be prepared for an explosion!!

all 4 of my children went from pooping with every diaper to pooping 1ce every 5-7 days (and then look out!!!!!!) all by the time they were a month old. Lots of pee. No fussies. So I knew they were ok. But beware when the time comes.

I would suspect that she's not constipated... bmilk is not usually constipating... as pp's said - is she getting anything else? When she does have a bm, you'll be able to tell what's going on - if it's still mustardy (thick is ok) than it's fine.

If there are lots of fussies going on, it could be a food tolerance within your diet. See what happens over the next few days with her bm. Plus, she could be going through a growth spurt so she's utilizing every last drop of bm creating little waste.

keep us posted. and keep a spare outfit in the car.

update

She finally did poop ( a big one) had a few "normal" days and is back to not pooping. She seems fussy. I cant tell if its burps in her belly (which I have a hard time believing after 3 or 4 burps) if she needs to poo or if its something else. Does clicking while BF mean that she is getting lots of air hence giving the tummy aches? What about taking a probiotic to help with digestion? oh, and I am EBF nothing else ever.

Is she growing well, Mama? If a baby is growing well (5-7 oz a week) and peeing well (6 heavy pees in 24 hours) then a days-between-poops pattern may be normal for that baby. is she fussy all the time? At certain times of the day? Is 'fussy' crying or squirming?

great news on the big poop!

clicking while bf means she's not latched on properly, and she could be swallowing air. She needs to have more of the areola in her mouth and make sure the tongue is under the breast. As soon as you hear the first click, slide her off gently (use your pinky to break the seal if you need to) an reposition her mouth and your breast to make sure enough of the areola is in her mouth. Sometimes it helps to squeeze the part of your breast closest to the areola to make it more like a pancake and then you can get more into her mouth. If the clicking continues, it can eventually lead to lots of issues down the road, so try to get her latch good and strong. If you need to change positions, try that. ie - go from the cradle hold to the football hold, or the cross-cradle, or lie down, etc.
