Letter I wrote to Wegmans, give me your thoughts!

I am a very loyal Wegmans customer, and have been for years! My husband worked in your store at State College and has nothing but great things to say about Wegmans. We love it there, and make several trips a week.

As a mother of two little ones (2.5 and 6 months) I have nursed my babies in your store a LOT! Usually in a sling, or on one of the benches. I am happy to say that I was never harassed or told to go into the bathroom by any of your employees, which makes me happy.

I personally have no problem walking, shopping, and nursing right out in the open, but as my HUGE baby boy gets bigger and bigger, it is becoming a challenge! All of the benches were taken up today during my usual Monday morning grocery trip, and I didn't have my sling with me- just my little guy in the front of the cart, and my toddler in the car part. I had to stop in the toy section and stand there nursing him while my busy daughter read some books, and I thought to myself, how nice would it be if there was a nursing station/private mother's lounge?

Some places of business choose to ask mothers to nurse in the restroom, which is both demeaning AND unsanitary. I would never eat my lunch in the bathroom, and wouldn't want my baby to either. A lot of moms feel uncomfortable nursing out in the open, and instead of feeling like they have to run out to their car or go sit in a stall, I think it would be absolutely wonderful if there was a designated spot with a few comfy chairs and maybe a water cooler where they could relax and feed their child- if they wanted to. Of course I would hope that it would be emphasized to employees that this room is for the mother's comfort, and is optional- if a mom chooses to feed her baby somewhere else, while shopping, etc, that is completely okay as well

Thanks for your consideration- I know I can count on Wegmans to support natural family living, and there is nothing more natural than breastfeeding!

Doesn't the State College one have a cafe? That's where I always sit to nurse. I take one of the big comfy chairs in the corner. And I have a big thumbs up for Wegman's as well. I've never been bothered about nursing.

Awesome. I love Wegmans more than most things in this world, and just moved from Buffalo, NY to MA - where there is no Wegmans I am having withdrawals. Our Weggies even had free childcare while you shopped!

I think it's PERFECT

I'm near Buffalo and only just recently started shopping there. I think I can offically say that I'm now a Wegmans lover, too. I would actually be a bit surprised if Wegmans didn't do something like this after being asked. Afterall, they're ALL about "Food you feel good about", right?
Well, what better *all natural* food is there for kids?

*ETA* - Maybe you could even include the "Food you feel good about" somewhere in your letter?

Yes, it does

Amila, this letter is wonderful. If you get us a nursing room I know a LOT of mommas who would be pretty grateful
