does the chicken pox vaccine shed?

Hi,
I'm supposed to have a friend and her 14 month old son over this Friday. Today he received several vaxes (not the MMR), I think they were the final series of ones he received previously plus the chicken pox. I've just read the chicken pox vaccine is a live one. Does it shed? I have a 9 month old daughter who is completely unvaccinated. Would you cancel the visit? I'm a total worrier........

Yes, it is live, so it sheds.

Personally I wouldn't cancel the visit. These things don't really worry me

Yes it sheds...Chances she would contract this from her friend is probably fairly slim. with that said unless you are ok with her MAYBE getting it, cancel the visit.

Just practice proper handwashing and don't share food or drink with the vax'd child and you SHOULD be fine. It's contagious, but not as contagious as, say, the flu or something.

Yep, it sheds but well, you never know when you are in contact with a freshly vaccinated child, so I would not worry. CP is not something to fear.

Anyone know for how long shedding would be a risk?

I would guess CP sheds 14-21 days-ish. But that's a guess.

I wouldn't worry.

But I would like my kids to get CP.
