I am so sorry I haven't been here to share in birth announcement joy and commisserate with those still waiting for baby to arrive, but we just spent the last 7 days in our local pediatric hospital with RSV.
Little Eloise got it from big brother, who likely dragged it home from parent's day out. She was congested and running a fever, and I took her in to the urgent care where they promptly admitted her. It was a little scary. She ended up needing oxygen and an IV and lots of deep suctioning. Anyway, all the Dr.s said her case was really mild for her age because she was full term, so big (9+ lbs), and breastfeeding. They were very supportive of breastfeeding and never brought up supplementing. They said if she did need a feeding tube they would use my milk. I got mastitis ( because she wasn't eating well) and they brought me a pump before we were even admitted. I also had a fridge in our room for milk, and they got me a hospital tray 3x a day as a nursing mom. Oh, and they didn't yell at me for sleeping with her in the large hospital bed rather than having her in the crib. I kind of did it on the down low and didn't ask, but nurses and RTs did come in and see what I was doing (nursing side-lying is the best thing EVER!)
So my PSA is don't drag your winter babies around too much and if you have an older child be careful about handwashing (although with a toddler coughing right in her face it's kind of difficult) I am sending healthy vibes to everyone. We are fine but it is not the way I was looking forward to enjoying Eloise' 2nd-3rd weeks of life

That must have been so hard. I'm glad things at least went smoothly at the hospital.
to excellent hospital staff.
