That's great! With my picky eater, when I explained why I needed him to take the CLO, he was happy to comply. Being upfront with picky eaters seems to be a better tactic that trying to hide stuff IME.

Must be nice to have kids who will do things you tell them to......seriously, dd will fight, kicking and screaming, fighting like a tiger, while both dh and I literally wrestle her to the floor and try to force her to take something, and even if we go through all that and manage to get some into our hysterical, screaming, fighting, frantic daughter, she throws it right back up at us. We simply can not force her to take something she doesn't want to.....there is no "you must take this it is non-negotiable" in our house...I mean, we can SAY that to her..but her response is "no, I don't like it I'm not taking it."

Sounds a bit like dd1. She definitely helped give us a kick in the pants towards living consensually!

This doesn't always hold true for DD1. Sometimes telling her backfires. Believe me, I never thought I'd be hiding anything from my kids. But, I have to get some nutrition into her every-once-in-a-while lol.

DD1 doing something like this is a new skill she's developed recently. We've had fights about things like this before that were way worse. What helped is she remembers having an abscessed tooth about 7 months ago and how bad that was. She remembered that the medicine (abx) she had to take for that was awful but it helped her to get better quickly. When I explained that this would help her not to ever have to go through that again she jumped on board pretty quickly. I think if we hadn't had that experience some months ago the FCLO would have been a bigger fight today.

just curious as to why you hide the BO....
I just use it like butter and no one bats an eye....

Everyone here hates the taste plain and we don't do much stuff that you can just stick butter on (e.g., not much toast, etc.). Sometimes they'll refuse a food if it has BO or butter on it. Dd1 used to eat it straight but then stopped. Funny how tastes work. Dd2 has always loved CLO straight and unflavored. Strangely they both love BO now mixed with raw honey.

I guess I am lucky because I don't have kids that tantrum. Between three children, I can count the number on tantrums on one hand, and it won't even take up all my digits.

LOL! Oddly enough, this was the fight I was referencing..at this point, if she refuses, I simply don't fight her..if she wants to suffer in pain, or with a sinus issue or cough, etc, well..okay. But she recently had a badly abcessed tooth and she HAD to take some antibiotics. We went through 2 of the episodes I mentioned, literally physically holding down a hysterical, fighting, screaming child, and still couldn't get any medicine in her...and since she HAD to take some, i was at my wits end..i actually called the doctor and asked her if she could just give dd an injection, because I knew that while it would suck, and she would fight so awfully and be so pissed after, at least once the injection was in, the medicine would be in her, and she wouldn't be able to throw it back up, and it would only be ONCE we'd have to have that fight, not 3X a day for 10 days = 30 awful fights resulting in little or no medicine in her.

Unfortunately, our doc called back and said her supply of pennicilin was expeired, so we couldnt do the injection...I begged for ANY other option, and we tried the pennicilin pills, which I ground up and put in some applesauce, and dd tolerated them!! I was so thankful, because I don't know what I would have done otherwise. she is...challenging.

I had a similar experience with DS and pneumonia. I couldn't get any natural remedies into him when he first got sick, not even vitamin C. But once we were home from the hospital, I explained how he needed to take vitamins and supplements to help him get healthy and strong (and now to KEEP him healthy and strong) and he's a lot more cooperative about taking things. Unfortunately, he liked the taste of the bright pink liquid antibiotic better than the taste of elderberry syrup or vitamins.

Oh, yes, you're lucky! I've had tantrums from all 3 of my kids as toddlers, and still get them occasionally from my 12yo.

I melt the BO with coconut oil in the toaster oven while I'm blending the fruit and kefir and then I pour the melted oils into the already blending smoothie...It hasn't been balling up at all.

I don't really like the taste of the BO, and I LOVE butter. DD1 doesn't like plain butter much and definitely wouldn't like the taste of BO...it's pretty strong IMO. But, when blended into a smoothie you can't taste it at all. Well, not like you can taste the CLO lol. I'm not really into sneaking stuff into her food, but we've been making some huge changes to what we eat and I feel like she might start wanting to fight for some control iykwim? We're getting ready to go gluten free after I do a bit more research...I'm beginning to think that she might have gluten intolerance. That's going to shock her system quite a bit since bread and the like is almost all that she'll eat
