Starts tonight. Who's watching?
I am!
Me!
Can't wait.
The try outs are my fave part of the show.

Interested to watch the new judge too. I saw her interviewed the other morning and she seems well spoken and to have a good head on her shoulders. Not a goof that can't formulate a full sentence like PA - in IMHO, of course.

It will be interesting to see the new dynamics with a fourth judge. What will they do if 2 people say yes and 2 say no during the auditions?

I was wondering that too, but since Paula loves everyone and doesn't really give much criticism, maybe they'll just ignore her vote.

The auditions are my least favorite part of the show, but I usually watch them anyway

I liked the new judge! Though right now she just seems like any of the other guest judges they've had periodically.

And... I didn't see the whole show tonight, but did Paula actually seem... normal?

I love American Idol! :

I read something about this, and apparently if there's a tie, Simon gets another vote.

I watched the premiere last night, and was it me, or were things kind of...boring? The only people I found even remotely interesting were that crazy pink girl and the tatooed rocker chick at the beginning. And yeah...Paula did seem pretty normal. She's still not the most articulate person in the world, but she at least seemed sober.

Yep, boring.
Boring huh? I liked it. I loved the story about the blind guy. Glad he made it in. I liked that there were less spotlight on those who don't have any singing talent and a little more story on those who were making it. DID NOT LIKE the girl in the bikini..WTH???

Totally watching..............
this is my fave show

I think "bikini girl" is going to be the talk of the season. She's an easy person to dislike. I, for one, hope she doesnt' make it past the Hollywood rehearsals, but I suspect she will, for two reasons.

One, she's a professional model. She's already somewhat familiar with the entertainment industry and is likely to compose herself well under pressure.

Two: she's already shown herself quite willing and able to use sex appeal to buy her way into the competition. It's possible she would have gotten in anyway, since she does have a good voice, but did you SEE the way Simon reacted? OMG, I have NEVER seen him accept somebody so fast! Normally he's a lot more composed and puts a lot of thought into it before saying yes to anybody.

OTOH, she's already alienated two of the judges, and if she keeps up her sexualized behavior she might alienate the other two. For all we know, Simon and/or Randy are embarrassed about their reactions after seeing the video, and in the end will be harder on her than they otherwise would have been.

I'm so mad. My dvr only recorded 10 minutes

Did anybody catch what those "yellow brick road" T-shirts said?
I didn't catch what the t-shirts said, but I thought last night was great! I really liked the guy who looked like Robert Downey Jr, and the mom of three (the very last one to sing) was awesome.

I think bikini girl will be gone after the first round in Hollywood. We've seen her type before, and they never last long.

Also, I am a fan of the new judge. She's very sensible and I think she'll keep Paula in line.

What did everyone else think?
I didn't like the new judge. I thought she was annoying.

And her sing-off with the bikini chick? Please. Yes, bikini girl was annoying, but don't feed the attention seeker by trying to prove you're better. Obviously you're better, why do you need to prove it? :

I love the mom of three and the guy who lost his wife.

I like the season so far, because i'm not a fan of watching endless "bad singers" that the judges make fun of, i find it really uncomfortable and i'm glad they've toned that down alot, and even the terrible ones they are being nicer to.

I like the new judge since she and paula are really good friends, maybe she'll keep paula off the meds and her on earth. I also like how it has changed the dynamic, the whole "paula in the middle being crazy and fighting with simon while randy looks on" thing was getting tired.

I really like alot of the talent we are seeing so far...so much potential here just in the first couple of episodes, i cant wait til hollywood.

Jason Castro's brother cracked me up...they look just alike except he's all punky instead of hippie. But still looks high all the time, maybe thats just how they were born or something. I loved how simon was like "what is with you castro brothers i cant tell if you want to even be here or not" which is totally true, they just kind of smile and shrug. Jason didnt do much for me, and neither does his brother, but he can sing.

I'm rooting for Adup-Dogg!

Quick question for you Idol experts - can people audition another year if they make it through pretty far, but not to the end? I am thinking about that kid from last season, Josiah I believe his name was. Remember him? He left home & was living in his car, really emotional. I wonder if he'll be back? I was always pulling for him.
Oooh, I forgot about the Castro guy. I love me some Castro brothers! : I'm so glad they let him go through. He's not as dreamy as Jason, but similar looking enough to bring back good memories.

Could you BELIEVE that Adup guy's voice?! I thought for sure he'd be one of the worst auditions, and he was awesome! I hope they get him a stylist, stat.

I loooved Josiah from last season. For some reason I'm thinking they can't audition again if they actually go to Hollywood, but I could be wrong.
