soft boiled egg yolk for 7 month old?

I was viewing the Weston Price website and noticed that they reccomend that the first foods you introduce to babies would be soft boiled egg yolk. I was wondering if anyone has done this and how it was for your baby? How long do you cook the egg to make it soft boiled?

I have tried sweet potato 2 times (she didn't like it) banana once (hated it) avocado once ( loved it). But now we are just waiting a bit before doing anymore food. I am interested in giving her the egg in a few weeks after she is 7 months.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I gave it to my youngest 2 days ago and she thought it was really tasty! The NT cookbook says to boil it 3 1/2 minutes. This was sufficient to harden the white of the egg, but the yolk was still very very runny. I think next time I might try 5 minutes to thicken the yolk up a bit. It was good for us and no bad reactions.

Just be aware that egg is a very common allergen (even though the white is more allergenic than the yolk is) and some babies will have a bad reaction to egg. So, when you introduce the egg yolk, be aware of this possibility and stop feeding eggs immediately if your little one has a problem with them.

Same for us. He loved it very much when I scramble them up though!

I started the egg yolk at 8 or 9 months, I think it was. I wound up with an egg allergic child at 15 months.

I know more people whose young baby wind up with an egg allergy eventually than not when starting at that age. Newwaphb is replete with people whose baby reacted or developed an allergy over time.

Do you live at a higher altitude? The higher the altitude the longer it takes an egg to cook.

I too have heard of a lot of babies having allergic reactions to it - or developing allergies later to egg. To me, it seems counter-intuitive to trade in 100% perfect breastmilk for an egg. But then to me it seems counter intuitive to feed much of any solids other than tastes here and there to a kid under 1 yr or so, or before they have a mouth full of teeth. Breast milk is the most traditional baby food there is - even after solids are begun.

I've been giving my daughter an egg yolk a day since she was 6 months old, and she's 10 months old now. I hard boil a dozen or so at a time and then just discard the white and mash the yolk up with sea salt, a jar of Earth's Best Sweet Potatoes or something of the like, and a Tbsp. of chicken stock. She loves it! It's her lunch or dinner every day. No bad reactions, and because I give her the ones rich in DHA, I feel so good about feeding this to her!
