Info for caregivers

Er, info for my mom. I didn't realize that a non-doctor would ever try to retract a boy, but she thought that you had to during diaper changes. Glad that I got it cleared up before I left him with her (she didn't retract, just said she didn't know how to change boy diapers because she didn't know how to 'clean it' right).

Is there a short printable explanation of care of intact boys that I can print for potential caregivers?

Thanks!

Also make label stickers that you can put on the front of the diaper. They can say "Intact DON'T Retract" as a reminder.

When my son was little we told my parents and sister (the only ones who kept him for us) to just wipe his penis like they would the end of their finger. Do not mess with the foreskin - that it is attached to the glans like your fingernail is attached to your nail bed. That visual worked pretty well.

If he has a really poopy diaper just tell them to wipe what they can but don't retract to clean. If it looks like there is some in the tip of his foreskin and they can't wipe it off to leave it. If they can, have a little fun bath time. Soaking works great. If not, then the next time he pees it will get flushed out.

My mom thought it was GREAT. She said he was so much easier to change then the two girls she raised. We're due with #3 in August and if this one is a girl I'm going to have to do my homework on how to change a girl's diaper.

Thanks! The nailbed analogy sounds good, and I'll check out the printables. They might be good for the whole "I've heard of too many older kids who had to be circed later because of xyz..'

I think that he's easier to clean than my DD too.
